Don't know if it's a severe lack of sharpness or what but he doesn't half give away stupid fouls.
-
If that challenge was intentional and McGinn didn't care about getting sent off he would have done a better job of nobbling him. Unfortunately You Doggie forgot he was hurt after the challenge and went down again. Great job.

Ajax were unseeded for a reason. Probably the best draw in terms of location we could have hoped for. Stick a good team out, smash them at their place and then we can take it easy in the second leg. Job done.
-
Imagine if someone from City or Liverpool made that pass....
-
World class - absolutely no question of that.
-
Get another goal and then make 5 subs to give some of them a well deserved rest for the cup replay. Hopefully we can get a few more in the second half though.

I live in Sheffield but I'm visiting my folks in Birmingham - can't wait to rub it into these Blades fans faces when I get back home....

This guy might make a good assistant referee one day if he lives up to his name.

Players clearly had one too many yesterday. Played like they were drunk. Shambolic, disgraceful performance to let a two goal lead slip against a team that haven't been able to score. They need to hang their heads in shame tonight, as that's two games in a row where we should have won comfortably. Emery is also at fault for not making changes when we had the lead, normally he's good at doing that but today he reacted way too slowly.

That's true to a degree but I would argue Konsa does a better job there, and he's the main competition for Cash but he obviously needs to start in the centre of defence! Either way it's really frustrating - I'm sure Emery will address it.
-
You're right, I take it back - I was very annoyed when he scored and it looked like he was going to rub it in our faces a bit and the players held him back but clearly I was seeing things!
-
Hopefully the goals will start to come for Zaniolo now - scored a big big goal this evening. He will be more important as the season goes on when we need to rotate more.

Not good enough to start for where we want to be next season. Needs to be sold in the summer but buying or loaning in a starting RB should be a priority for us in Jan.
-
Surprised that he celebrated the goal. Thought he would have had a bit more respect.

Pretty much the only mainstay from last season that hasn't improved with the other players.
-
Ramsey not having a good game at all. Looks very rusty. Wonder if Emery will take him off at half time?

What a week! Emery is a legend - success is imminent. Benjamin Zephaniah would have loved the last two results. HEITS.

If Emery wants someone the board will back him, I'm pretty sure of that. I can't see Emery relying on the current set of players to see out the season. There's a massive risk of burnout if we progress in the cups and if we want to maintain our league form.

Quite easily the finest technical defender we've ever had. Some of his balls forward are unreal. I think he will get better but even now he's fantastic.

Anyone think we should cut our losses in January and try to get in another loan?

Absolutely has to be Champions League qualification for me. We are good enough to win a cup this season but prioritising the Champions League will make us stronger financially and allow us to compete on another level next season. We don't need to be impatient because we are showing signs of progress already. Let's worry about winning a domestic cup next season when we potentially have a better squad.

This guy is the best keeper in the world right now, no question of that now and a world cup winner. Based purely on that he has to be our best goalie of all time. Could have easily left in the summer but chose to stick with us, unlike some other players we've had in recent years. Genuinely loves us too. I'm certain he will win something with us, sooner rather than later and drive us on to bigger and better things.
