He’s a turncoat. Wanted to leave to win trophies and play with better players. Well that just makes him a selfish turncoat. He won everything in just 2 years. He could stay at Villa for the rest of his career and quite conceivably not win a single trophy. He made the right move for his career and it's paid dividends pretty much immediately.

They're an absolute force for good for the financial and sporting success of Aston Villa and the wider V Sports corporation family. I despise that the v sports family is a thing. I hate the disgusting price hikes, the bullshit of requiring a membership for the chance to be eligible to buy a ticket, the Holte terrace view, and the absurdity of them pleading about market rates to put our prices up while remaining silent about the areas we charge more than market rates. Within the grotesque Premier League, they're probably the best owners we can hope for, but billionaires are not our friends. I'm well aware I'm in the vast minority on this, and they've brought, or bought, us success, but I don't like them, and I wouldn't give them the steam off my piss. I'm probably just done as a paying fan/customer of top flight football

foreveryoung
Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of Man City or there fans. But if we're real, we would have to admit, they have the best manager and team of players in the world build on ignoring FFP rules. Unfortunately I think the brown envelops have gone round already, making sure City will just get a slap on the wrist and carry on dominating the game, maybe until Pep leaves. Popular Post lapal_fan
I haven't got a problem with the players, the coaches or manager, but this collection of players would never have played as this collective unless the club itself didn't financially dope to this position. From 2007, when city squeezed in these owners before FFP was introduced to the league in 2009, the damage was already being done when they replaced a squad including players like Paul Dickov, Joey Barton, Darius Vassell and Slyvian Dustin to players like Robinho, Elano, Jo, Martin Petrov they've been artificially inflating their squad with talent they'd otherwise not be able to afford. They're top 4 earners take £70,000,000 out of the club annually.. and Cancelo is out on loan this season. Villas entire wage bill is £90,000,000.. City legend Calvin Phillips takes home £7,800,000 a year.. this year he's managed 290 minutes play time, the equivalent of 3.2 whole games.. he was Leeds' player of the season 2 years running, but plumped for being a well paid gym bro/happy clapper for Man City's first team. It's this type of malpractice of city which few other clubs can match. We all dislike Man United, but at least their commercial whoring is organically built on great sides of the 90s.. and they had nothing of the continuous success of Man City. Their treble signalled the end of that teams cycle.. I can't see Ederson doing what Schmeichel did and ending his time at City. And until they brought in a young Rooney to start the team featuring Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney etc, already built on Scholes, Giggs etc, they didn't do much in Europe. To me, this signals the end of dominance of historically big clubs like Madrid, Milan, Barca and state owned clubs will fill the void. The richest have always been the most successful, but this Frankenstein is several steps further away from the spirit of the game I ever thought possible.

I know he doesn’t care. I’m not disputing his motives. And the very small price he has to pay is that he’s a selfish turncoat. That’s just an indisputable fact. The point I was making is that I find it pathetic for Villa fans to celebrate his success with another club who have cheated to succeed. I think it’s a real loser’s mentality. And I find it bizarre from supporters of a club that won its own European cup in the 80s. And by the way, there are plenty of sports where people don’t just abandon their teams for a better chance of personal success elsewhere. Real team spirit and loyalty does exist elsewhere thankfully.
