Much better centrally and a bit higher up than being put out on the left. Its good emery seems to have found a way to play luiz, kamara, tielemans together where they all have a comfortable position.

definitely Motm for me. Was incredible in the first half.

Yeah, needs to play in that more advanced "Lampard" position. A real attacking threat. Pressed their defence really well.

Still not convinced he can play further back where Luiz and Kamara sit. He's not disciplined enough to do the defensive stuff.

Great performance, more please!

Yeah I thought he played really well last night, was good to see.

It's crazy that at the age of 26, he has played 460 games, 346 of them top league appearances. There's a lot of experience there already and he could still have another 10 years in him.

He said earlier in the week that he's learning so much from Unai and his coaches. Tonight showed that and more.

I think he fits pretty much the Emery archetype player. As well as technical skills, he has the intelligence to take in and apply what Unai wants/expects from him (as well as a willingness and humbleness to learn).

No room for billy big-bollocks egos here - all one team masterminded by Unai and his coaches.

His tackle in the box to stop a shot was perfectly timed, he had close to a perfect first half for us. He's another string to our bow and looks to pushing for a start in the league.

Did we turn him into an attacking Midfielder) Forward last night?

Or was he more like a box to box midfielder with heavy licence to get forward?

Whatever it was, he certainly enjoyed it!

Some of his escapes from being pressed by two or more AZ players in our own half were a joy to watch.

He seemed to me to be very much given a box to box licence. Provide an extra option for Luiz and Kamara in the middle, start our attacks from slightly deeper than normal, and arrive late in the box going forwards. But he also provided extra defensive cover at times to. He had a wonderful game.

I think Unai recognized that Youri in the double pivot has some weaknesses that could be punished like they were at Legia - namely that he's below the levels defensively and out of possession compared to Luiz-Kamara. Though to be fair, most midfielders right now would.

So he deployed him as the second striker out of possession to keep him away from the double pivot and further up the field where he could receive and progress us forwards. Out of possession - Diaby and Watkins tend to remain high and split the channels whereas Youri was tasked with dropping slightly deeper so that AZ couldn't recycle play through their midfielders and also receive the ball between the lines where he had some more time. The AZ defenders didn't want to peel off the back line to chase Youri so he had more time than he usually would.

In possession - he tended to shift into the double pivot with Bailey taking up more of a roaming position in the half spaces for him. At his peak, Youri played in a midfield 3 at Leicester and Unai found a good solution in playing him as that second striker out of possession but with a much different role than Diaby. With Luiz-Kamara pivot behind him, he didn't have to cover as much ground. This might be a decent solution for us in terms of rotation when we play teams without a high pressing intensity.

Once we were 4-1, he played in the double pivot when Luiz went off but by that time, he didn't have to do much but to keep possession.

Credit to Unai for finding a position that worked better for him and take advantage of his talents (progressive balls forward, final third effectiveness) and to hide some of his other weaknesses.

Luiz is due a card for a suspension. Hopefully he doesn’t get one as we’ll need him in our run, which will get tougher. We also need points these games. Tough decision to be honest. Especially when Luiz is scoring every game at home.

Id say play him next game against AZ take the booking and miss the zrin game as we should have too much for them by then

Did wonder why he didn't get an intentional yellow late on in the West Ham game, given the game was won by that point and we have Luton at home next: which on paper is one of the few games he could afford to miss.

Vision and weight of pass is seriously good. Going to be very useful for us.

He's not in the same league, but in the flesh he reminds me a little superficially of Scholes - a lot slighter than I'd  have thought, has a similar little skipping run and seems to try to play very heads up. Then obviously there's  his shooting prowess. Better tackle though
