That's really not true anymore - I don't think there are large numbers of away fans with local postcodes buying memberships and tickets to get into Villa Park - sure, there's the occasional one, but it's nothing like it was during the 90's.

The big games sell out because we're a very well supported team.

I beg to differ. I agree we are a well supported team but many of our fans are selling too or buying tickets for Man U and Liverpool fans. I’m not saying we wouldn’t sell out without this. I’m just saying it happens way too much for my liking.

I think it's pretty much dead - outside of hospitality boxes I can't remember the last time I saw an away fan near me - in the 90's there always seemed to one around.

Modern ticketing methods, memberships and postcode searches and patterns, all make this much easier to police than it used to be and I think it really shows.

Them days are over my friend

I'm not going to mention a future season in the Championship, but even if we're mid-table or lower in the Premier League against someone like Fulham or Luton, I can see us being 10k short of a 50k or 52k sellout. You might be right, but I think the club should look at offers to get an expanded Villa Park fuller in the lower key games.

I totally agree. I just think the club is moving at a rate that commercialism and revenue take priority over giving a shit about the fans.

£560 in the unfit for purpose North upper is now £728... No thanks, ill get another dodgy stick for the back of my TV and fill my fridge with beer. not to mention the Takeaway for the whole family every Saturday night, plus the money ill save on fuel/ travel/ parking. Ill probably just take out a membership and try and make a coupe of visits per season.

I understand we have been one of the cheapest average season tickets for a long time, but this kind of increase over a short space of time stinks. how can one of the cheapest seats in the ground become one of the most expensive overnight?

Very Poor from the club in my opinion. left a bad taste. Shame.

Exactly my sentiments too.

The money I'll save on not renewing will allow a very nice family holiday instead.

What the club do in the two season when there's no North Stand and then when we have an expanded capacity on ST's when it opens will be interesting.

We're currently at about 28,000 season ticket holders and I think they're trying to lower that - capacity without the North Stand will be about 34,000 - with 1,500 of those for away fans and the club taking perhaps another 500 - it'll leave very few tickets on general sale and make the sale of memberships more difficult, if the numbers were the same, a current member would only have a one in seven chance of getting a ticket for a home game.

Then once we reopen - of the 10,000 planned additional seats, 3,500 will be in hospitality - so the number of general sale tickets available after away, hospitality and club allocations are removed will probably be around 42,000. I think the club will want to keep 10,000 for members and occasionals, if not more - so we might find that when the new stand opens in 2026 or 2027, there might only be an additional 4,000 season tickets for sale - perhaps fewer than that.

This may sound controversial and I don’t mean to offend anyone but the demographics of the crowd gives it away against Man U and Liverpool.

I don't see it myself, happy to agree to disagree, I guess we sit in different places!

Where to start!

Only Purslow & the Commercial Department could put a complete dampener on the feel good feeling going around Villa Park at the moment!

First off I will be renewing but gouging (US version of the word) a captive audience does not have a good feel or look about it.

  1. No matter how hard they try 15 % is not justifiable. UK RPI of 10% would be more than enough and have some semblance of a defence
  2. it actually equates to more when you add in the removal of a Cup match
  3. Re-classification of North Stand season tickets when it is about to be demolished is also taking the piss. Introduce new pricing in the swanky new stand.
  4. I like the look of the Upper Holte Terrance but £25/match for a pint & a programme is too much, throw in a meal and maybe it looks better. People will still be expected to spend more even once inside

Does not feel right at this moment in time. I know we want to compete with the big boys but London pricing does not work here.

They had better win tonight!!!😃

Its crept up. Obviously 800/850 is not the same as it was 15/20 years ago.

But the club have basically doubled the cost of many season tickets in the last few years and there is a point I just can't do it anymore. At the moment thats around 800/850.

Everyones circumstances are different, but that's where im at financially.

On the, perhaps realistic, assumption that Villa are not going to consistently compete in the CL, I like to think future (after this year) rises in ticket prices won't exceed inflation levels, with the vast majority of adult season tickets staying well below £1000 for a good while yet.

I'm assuming your 23/24 season ticket price is £779?With inflation expected to fall rapidly next year, your £850 limit might be okay for a few years and then any increases hopefully be met by an increase in your income over that time.

Without consistent CL level football, I think the Villa Board will get a big shock if they're expecting to shift 50,000 tickets every 2026/7 home game at £50 (£950) for season tickets holders and £60+ for general sale. They need to know the vast majority of Villa fans don't have the disposable income of the London club fans!

Like most businesses, they'll keep pushing until they find the limits of their client base. Unless we are regularly competing for league titles or at least in the CL, I think the latest price rise is the most they can expect to charge (barring minor inflation rises) and still fill the future expanded capacity for most of the league games.

It will be massively disappointing if this Villa Board are okay with future seasons seeing even higher prices at the expense of lower occupancy of a 50k Villa Park.

Why are people moaning about the ticket rises?

Many in the world that would love a chance to see a PL game. Its every kids dream, and you can get it for as little as £25 a game.
For the price of watching a PPV Boxing event on Sky Sports. The Price of 2.1 packets of cigarettes. Price of 3-4 Costa/starbuck Coffees.

Its not 1982 now. Move on with the times.

That makes sense with the massive price increase.

Bring down the season ticket holders so we can still milk the casual fans when capacity is reduced!

Looks like i got out relatively unscathed compared to some of the rises, 14.88% rise, below the '15% average" (Just). Although obviously in May 2019 i bought my ST at the ticket office and got it for £360-£390, it was great value. Ultimately it works out at 32 quid a game now which i can't argue with especially if we win at home at the rate we are now! Definitely feel the club could have been a bit more sympathetic about things though and probably would have been better for them to do the rezoning of areas in the upper north when the new stand is built. I feel for those who have to give it up, but it dosent mean they love villa any less and maybe they can spend this money and enjoy the time with family and still watch villa occasionally via being a member.

I'm T5 but its a seat in the first few rows and very near the central blocks so i am paying for a similar view as others but am still classed as price zone 4. £531 - £610 isnt a huge jump, at least compared to some i have seen, so i think i will consider myself lucky this season. Expecting a big rise once the new stand is here though

Too passive in the UK. You'll get a bedsheet or two maybe a couple of broken cardboard boxes written on. Get told to do one, and the moans will fall silent.

It needs all fans to come together like when most clubs said away tickets should be 20 quid and eventually the compromise was 30 quid which lasted for a few seasons.

It's ridiculous when you think about it. Fans get fleeced by matchday tickets/season tickets, shafted by kick off times changing at pretty short notice and then the archaic transport network plays up like tonight for anyone coming in from Sutton/Lichfield so then making the kick off time is an achievement.

There should be some sort of campaign for match ticket to be part of transport to match like there is in Germany as that would be a small PR win in these times. Or a Sports event railcard or something which would be 33% off fares.

Yep.... Tonight the traffic was horrendous getting to the ground. I walked through the turnstiles as the game kicked off and got out 5 mins early to avoid the rush.

We've got 30k season ticket holders, 3 out of ever 4 seats pretty much. Certainly no room for random away fans, doesn't happen anymore
