We have managed to get this guy before he's hit his peak, records being broken most weeks, and with our mediocre squad. After the dark days of Steven Gerrard he has come in, fired us up to sixth in the league, improved the form of virtually every player and done that all without freezing anyone out (Ings excepted) or bringing in a load of new players. Even if we 'only' finish 8th or 7th this season the momentum and team spirit around the club will do a huge amount for keeping players here who might be tempted away and attracting the top drawer recruitments Emery needs to take us into Europe.
