Pretty sure live table still had Spurs ahead of us at 2-0 on goals scored

Yeah but results of the next two games we would’ve needed to match Spurs but one better GD than them whereas now it’s needs to be three better.  The gulf in difference between the two is huge, really huge..

It’s unlikely that results will play out like that but if they did which a least a possible scenario that we match Spurs results that penalty will be huge.

No conspiracy just things conveniently just keep dropping Spurs way like the penalty, now the Toney ban right before the Spurs game, two games before the end of the season…the universe just dropping Spurs way with a bit of man-made help 😜

Do we want to qualify for the Europa Conference this season?

West Ham have played 13 EC games so far this season plus a 14th tonight and probably a 15th soon as they look to be favourites to get to the final. Meanwhile they are currently 15th in the Premier League table and have recently been even closer to the bottom three.

Add in their FA/EFL cup games and they will end this season having played 56/57 games! Are Villa ready for that? Would it have a negative effect on our PL performance next season?

They played 56 games last season and finished 7th.

The simple answer is yes, to all of those points. Hopefully by next season we will have a bigger and better squad that could cope with the extra games and quick turn arounds.

I don't think the current squad could cope as we can't make enough quality changes, this is why it's not imperative we qualify this season. It's more of a bonus this season

West Ham were even worse when they began their season which definitely wasn’t affected by many games. Somehow they got some results while having more games in Europe. Leicester got 5th (almost 4th) while playing in Europe. They’re almost relegated while not playing a single European game.

Playing in Europe (Especially Conference), will give us a very great chance to move forward. We can promise some players gametime without affecting our league performance. We can’t get good players and think they will be happy to be in the bench while waiting for a player to get injured or so.

Also - if we hope to get to CL qualification next year, having a year's 'practice' in Europe in a junior competition can only be beneficial.  I imagine we have a transfer plan for Europe/not Europe that would get a few more bodies in during the summer if the former.

But equally, if we don't make it it's not going to be the end of the world and probably makes the league and domestic cups an easier focus.

Possibly why we've been linked with a lot of midfielders like Ugarte, Lo Celso, Guendouzi etc.  People think we don't need them because we have Kamara, Luiz and McGinn, we'll need them if we are in Europe.

Yes I do.  I want to finish as high as possible.

If we then don’t plan and recruit for all the extra games, that’s a different story but can’t see Emery falling short on that.  If he does, he does.

I want to be in the discussion and not duck out because it’s potentially too hard.  Even looking at West Ham, they may be close to winning trophy, a European trophy.  Yes it’s a 2nd rate trophy and no CL or Europa League but neither is it the Intertoto Cup…it’s a European trophy and when was the last time we won a significant trophy….1996.

Utter corruption this. The whole timing of the ban stinks. They are desperate to help Spurs.

FA SUIT 1: We don't want Aston Villa playing in the Conference League do we?

FA SUIT 2: Good Lord, no. Under no circumstances must Aston Villa play in the Conference League. Spurs must qualify and we're going to make sure of it! But how?

FA SUIT 1: Ooh, what if we ban Toney now, so that he can't play v Spurs on Saturday?

FA SUIT 2: You've earned yourself a payrise, you genius! Now see to it. **** you Aston Villa, no third-best European competition for you! MUHAHAHAHAHA!

BOTH: MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Haven't seen confirmation but I expect that includes this weekend's fixture against Villa.

It will be their last league game this season and their first next season, because there is a conspiracy against to not qualify for Europe.

Brighton will finish above us, they will beat Southampton for a start

would rather they won tonight, beat Southampton get europe, go on the piss, be hungover for the game vs us and we batter them, that's the easiest route for us I think, it's us vs spurs for 7th and I'd be very happy with the ECL

Plus it puts Newcastle in the shit

West Ham haven't really upgraded lot of the team for 3-4 seasons and Moyes. Not comparable to us even though seen it said so many times
