we have 2 more games left before Bournemouth and I dont remember the Brisbane keeper making many saves. One from Ings I remember

The football in the first half with a lot more starters was as dire and boring as last season

Who lost 2-1 to Braga yesterday.

I thought he'd said a week Friday?

And also rugby league so less fat men hugging on the floor

I was listening to the Aussie commentator who said it at half time

Positives (from this tour)

  • Two wins.
  • Two clean sheets.
  • No injuries.
  • Match fitness for a large number of the squad.
  • Youth players looking ready if called upon.
  • Olsen more than capable back up keeper.
  • Four very decent centre halves.
  • Carlos looks a beast.
  • Kamara will be a real asset.
  • Squad harmony looks good.
  • Luiz looks more comfortable as an 8.
  • Archer can finish. (Yes, I know he missed a couple - but he will get goals).
  • Buendia, Coutinho, Luiz showing glimpses of the South American flair.

Negatives

  • Sanson, Guilbert not really taking their chance (albeit minimal game time).
  • Traore and Bailey remain a little unconvincing, particularly Bertrand.
  • Digne's challenge today was very poor - Didn't like that in a "friendly".
  • Not clinical enough.
  • Looked a little devoid of a real spark to the "low-block" - IE a Grealish type that draws 2 or 3 players in.
  • Would've like 45 mins for Davis just to see a physical presence up top.

That slip from Mings wasn't fun.

Do our players not warm up properly? It's every week at VP they're slipping all over the place. Drives me up the wall.

At least we are consistent

Honestly don't think this is the time to worry.

- It's pre season

- Experimental Teams

- Never really seemed to get out of first or second gear

- Played like a practice match

The closer we get to the season, the closer to our starting 11 we will see.

I think in a sense it's hard for the players to kick up a big effort against this type of opposition in a pre season game.

Imagine if we had 2 Kamaras in the middle?

Archer looks more dangerous than our 50 odd million worth of seniors strikers so far.

I would say the United game and the Rennes will feature slightly more settled teams unless we agreed with United to play 2 different teams 1st half and 2nd half.

Rennes will be much more settled with eye on Bournemouth

disagree on bailey. think he's looked quite bright in both games personally

It was very much a preseason game. Not much bite to it but I thought Roar defended well.

First half I thought Bailey looked busy without being great. Cash is just a live wire. I think in the prem Digne would have seen red for that tackle. Lucky boy!

Second half I thought KKH, Tim and Archer were good. Glad Archer scored the goal after missing a good chance. I think he should have played in Ollie but that’s my opinion.

Anyway decent run out and another win and another clean sheet.

Is it not the kitmans job to prepare the boots for the players

If he put clown shoes out would they all put them on or suggest some different ones?

Warm-up and test the pitch out. If you're slipping over multiple times a game, you've got the wrong boots on.

I may be doing him a little disservice as I thought he was very good against Leeds, but just ok today (and I was hoping for more).

So do we look better with two strikers and one 10? Was the case last season, from memory we didn't play well with two 10s and one striker.

Yeah we never quite got that balance right, we had two players doing one job at number 10 and the wing backs doing two jobs each, both defending as part of a back 4 and providing all of the attacking width.  It's hard to see Buendia and Coutinho fitting in the same team again.

I think this was much more a practise match in comparison to the Leeds game. I expect us to raise our game against Utd at the weekend. Some promising signs from individuals and some tidy link up play so onwards we go.

Difficult situation for SG, who do you drop? the biggest name in the team and mate, or the teams record signing and (probably) best player?

Yep Friendship and big name reputation v a player who nearly always produces the goods on the pitch.
