MikeMcKenna Posted May 21, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted May 21, 2022 Sadly, imo we are going to get hammered. Greedish is also probably going to score. Reason to be cheerful: This season is nearly over.
sne
Would be impressive if we managed to take a point or a win. But if we don't then Liverpool doesn't get the title which would be great.

Manchester City have triumphed in all five of their final league games of the season under Guardiola by an aggregate score of 20-1. Aston Villa have won just one of their 21 Premier League away games against the league leaders (D3, L17), beating Leeds United 2-1 in January 2000. (I went to that one!) Aston Villa are winless in their last 16 matches versus the Premier League leaders, losing the previous seven by an aggregate score of 21-1. But on the positive side: Ollie Watkins has scored in all three Premier League appearances versus the reigning champions, netting five goals in total. Ah.

delboy54
We will be up against Man Ci£y, a biased ref who also doesnt know the rules or makes new ones up as he goes along, and dodgey VAR decisions helped by the ref's mates. We have no chance other than to give a good account of ourselves like when we played liverpoo, and try to keep the number of goals they score to single figures I am on the whole an optimistic sort of person.......
El Zen
We’ll essentially be playing against 13 players, eleven of which are vastly superior footballers, one is the referee and the last being them playing for the title. Go team!
Davkaus
A draw is enough to stop them finishing the season on double the points we have, let's do it

TomC
Here's an idea that SG would never try but would be interesting... If you want to throw City off their game, do what Greece did to everyone at Euro 2004...man-mark and play with a sweeper, just as a one-off. Even back in 2004, zonal marking was so established that nobody remembered how to play against a sweeper system. Guardiola's system is based on creating overloads in a zone...if everyone is tightly marked, it makes it harder to overload one area. Of course, the weakness of man marking is that you can be dragged out of position by intelligent running. But they aren't going to be prepared to do that. What do we have to lose? Yep, I’m really conflicted over being bitter about Jack leaving thus not wanting Man City to win anything this season to being sick of being Plop fans condescending that we are their shit second team and they love us now. Thankfully I just care about Villa winning but all that noise in the background is peeing me off.
PaulC
No confidence at all that we will get anything from this game. Even if by some miracle we are level late on we will get screwed again by VAR
CLARETANDBLUEFOXY
It’s actually amusing me so much how many Liverpool supporting friends keeping telling me how much they’re relying on us to get something. Mate, Aston Villa are the last football club you want to rely on!! 2

Popular Post VillaFaninLondon
Other than their great song Blue Moon and KDB (who is not only an exceptional footballer but a really nice guy), I pretty much hate everything about City. From getting lucky in 2008 after being God awful for the best part of 30-40 years, to having corrupt, morally bankrupt owners with a terrible human rights record that they turn a blind eye to, to their annoying manager complaining all the time that City don't get enough love in the media. Then there is Grealish, a player they signed for 100m just because they could, only serving to weaken us and not actually do anything for them (they would be exactly where they are in the table with or without him). It's not inaccurate to say that they have ruined football, although they are of course in complete denial about that. My lack of respect for City is such that I would rather see Liverpool win the quadruple than they win the PL, however nauseating that might be. At least Liverpool are a traditional big club. It would be nice to deny them the title but it seems very unlikely. Hopefully we can at least end the season with a respectable scoreline and not let them run away with it, we seem to be able to raise our game against Liverpool so I don't see why we can't do it against City.
