I keep coming back to the one word at the moment. Consistency. Far too many inconsistent performances last season. Buying experience gives a better chance of consistency of performance. If they aren't what you thought, selling a 25 year old with two years on their contract is easier than selling a 32 year old with two years left. If Roma rejects your bid and he wants to move to you, all you have to do is call up Chelsea and offer them some money to do the deal. The opportunity was last summer, like I said last summer (and others on here) now if you have to pay that stupidly high figure you may as well look at a number of other really expensive players.
