It also means that if we sell the player in a couple of years time for say, £40m that takes a high earner off the books and gives us a £40m profit on top. You’re right the overall cost over a number of years is probably pretty much the same, but we’re not short of actual cash, we’re restricted by ffp. Free signings at least blur’s the line a little and allows the accountants more room for “flexibility”, when considering ffp. Which must go against the grain a little for accountants who have spent a lifetime trying to prove a loss for tax reasons, to now be asked to prove a profit. Unconvinced, a lot is said about agent fees but pretty sure our accounts last year showed we spent£9-10m on agent fees, which was up a decent amount already too but it's not a game changer. If signing Kamara bumps that by 50% it's still only £5m. Anda player of his value is worth that plus whatever stupid signing bonus I'm sure we can also guess about.
