Interview as expected, given the intensity he has had at Rangers talking was never going to unnerve him.

I think there are easy quick wins for them to focus on, defensive solidity and distances was mentioned.  We have enough threat up front to cause anyone problems, stopping us leaking easy goals Is a must.  Press is great, but to play that way for 90 needs a different fitness, that will take time and cohesion.  One man presses are easily played around, the Barca/Pep ploy was to cover as a team.

Shape in transition is another quick win.  Teams break on us so easily and quickly at times, some argue it’s because we don’t have a decent athlete in the middle, personally I think it’s because we overload the flanks in attack and when we lose the ball our middle is hopelessly exposed.  Tightening that up shouldn’t be too onerous either.

Lets see how good they are, even Remi Garde managed to put a shape and plan in place first game up

I think SG is probably our highest profile signing/appointment and we should exploit that as much as possible. I expect a head of pimple popping to be added to the backroom staff in the coming days.

Not quite sure where this sense of entitlement has its roots.

At home to a Brighton team that hasn't won in 7 games, despite our own poor form, is a must win game. This would have been the case if Smith was here.  It is still the case now. Gerrard needs to get the team motivated and firing straight away.

I don't expect us to win, but I do hope we will and will be disappointed if we don't. There won't be many easier games the rest of the season.

If we don't, it will make Gerrard's job a lot harder this season.

I have seen this stat mentioned before and I’m afraid it is a bit misleading. They also have lost only once in the past 11 games and only twice all season. Recent results have included battling draws against Liverpool and Leicester. They are 7th, we are 16th, and there is a reason for that.

The idea that we are going to swan out on Saturday and take an easy 3 points seems fanciful. I’m hoping to see more organisation in defence, more effort all round and we fight our way at least to a draw. That would be a great start for Gerrard.

The idea this would be a massive blow for Gerrard if we didn’t win seems a bit off centre.

Maybe McPhee can take on that role as I think SG has brought his set piece specialist?

He will have only spent 2 days with some of those players that are starting. 

A draw would be a good result and if I'm honest, I'm just looking for a spark, a difference in energy and fight.

After this we have:

Palace Away

Man City Home

Leicester Home

Liverpool Away.

Norwich Away

If we don't win this we will almost certainly be in the relegation zone by the time we play Norwich. For me this is an absolute must win game.
