Everytime Newcastle were in possession in any kind of space he was like a demented madman sprinting to get hold of them, everytime, it always seemed to be him haring across the pitch closing them down. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of players who would put him down as the hardest man to play against, he's such a pest. He still gave the ball away a fair bit but that's because he plays right on the edge, it's a world class through ball or an interception/overhit. He takes no easy options which in itself is hard to play against. When your opponent is constantly trying to stretch you instead of playing it simple you're more on the back foot even if you win the ball back. He's simply outstanding. NurembergVillan Posted April 15, 2023 Moderator Share Posted April 15, 2023 He's the Carlos Tevez to Ollie Watkins' Sergio Aguero. One does all the hassling and harrying, the other can focus on scoring goals.
Popular Post Rightdm00
Having a flair guy willing to get in the trenches is such a luxury. First player we have had since Milner who can cover every blade of grass and be a threat in the final 3rd.
ferguson1
Showed really good strength in tight situations today. Newcastle players just bounced off him.

The Moustache of Teale
Outstanding today. On that form he must be horrible to play against. Literally here, there and everywhere, a constant menace. And such and intelligent player.
DJBOB
To be fair - I think Newcastle played him horribly. Joelinton and Bruno were nowhere to be found over and over again. Kept getting drawn into Luiz and Dendoncker and allowed Buendia space behind them with no one marking! Emi himself must’ve been stunned to receive the ball on the half turn to find no one around him. Im sure Scharr saw him but was terrified of following him and leaving Botman to deal with Ollie alone.
ozvillafan Posted April 15, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 15, 2023 I'm a big fan, but I have noted the amount of times he is easily dispossessed in midfield, especially with his back to goal and pressure as soon as he receives the ball. Not so today. Superb. He twisted and turned, even won back possession up the pitch and got under Dan Burn's skin (McGinn finished the job). Found so much space between the lines as their midfield struggled to contain us. Some lovely passing and through balls. Great performance

Tom13
How has Ramsey got the assist on both FPL and Livescore for the third? I swear he didn't touch it?
the_eristic
Wish he'd scored that header, we know he can do it but the shortest man on the pitch putting away a header while being marked by Burn would've been especially amusing.
Keener window-cleaner
I thought this was perhaps his best game in a Villa shirt, he found so much space between their midfield and defence and was involved in everything. Really promising to see that he had such a good game against a team in the top 4. Previously I had some doubts if he could perform against the top teams, today he showed that. He did so much running his legs were gone with 20 mins to go but he still managed to positively effect the game. He gave every single thing he had today and then quite a lot more as well. He was a hero today but just one amongst 11.
