Regarding player upgrades, and I know the “big powerful CM has become a bit of a running joke” but I think he would benefit from a stronger midfield. His work rate is fantastic and that will never change, but he isn’t the biggest physically so I don’t really want him getting swamped in the centre circle. However, the reality is, the success rate of these efforts leave a lot to be desired as of yet. Which simply isn't good enough for the level he's playing, and this is my big gripe. It’s not stray passes that are frustrating it’s when he gets shrugged off the ball in dangerous areas which leaves us caught on the break. more often than not he is left on the floor as well so can’t try and win the ball back. In games of late (particularly the Brentford game) opposition teams have learned that if they double team and deny any space for Buendia they shut down the majority of our creativity. Now they have someone else to worry about. The threat of both Coutinho and Buendia means they afford each other space and keep the defense guessing.
