Mandy Lifeboats
As Coventry are using St Andrews I think the post office should allocate an extra postcode to the ground to help the Coventry fans feel at home. May I suggest CV19.
Villan4Life
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8151481/Birmingham-stars-AGREE-50-cent-wage-deferral-month-ensure-staff-paid.html Quote Many of Birmingham’s players have agreed to defer up to 50 per cent of their wages from next month to help ensure all of the club’s non-footballing staff will be paid in full amid the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus crisis. Sportsmail has been told that while Pep Clotet’s first-team squad will be paid in full this month, the majority have accepted a deferral for four months starting in April, with the money to be repaid in four instalments when football resumes later in the year. Birmingham became the first Championship club to formally ask players to defer part of their wages on Tuesday. This is in common with many of their rivals, who anticipate having cash-flow problems if the current shutdown continues into the summer. Many others in the second tier expected to follow suit. All players currently paid more than £6,000-a-week at St Andrews have been asked to accept a revised amount of 50 per cent of their salary above that amount. As a result the club’s administrative and back-room staff will continue to be paid in full. The Professional Footballers Association are so far opposing such measures on the ground that many players in the lower divisions will struggle to pay their bills without receiving their full salaries. But they may be forced to alter their position in order to prevent clubs going bust the longer the crisis continues. The PFA are understood to have contacted many of their members over the last 24 hours warning them that clubs are seeking to defer or cut wages. They have also offered them advice on their legal position, which enables to leave on a free transfer if they are not paid for two weeks.

Mic09
I like the idea because people at the club who don't earn a lot will be able to get paid. BUT. It's not the players idea - the club told them to do it. Also, the above states that the money will be paid back to players.... It doesn't look like charity, it looks like the club putting a gun to the players head telling them to do it and promising to pay back. Again, in the grand scheme of things those in need will get the money, but dancing and singing about is probably not be justified.
HanoiVillan
What this demonstrates, ultimately, is that there will need to be a solution for football teams organised by the government, or they will all go to the wall. Clubs simply don't have reserves to keep paying wages with no money incoming from gate receipts, transfers or television (which money is apparently mostly paid in arrears and will not be coming in at the current time). What's more, football is going to be one of the last things to restart, and it may very well be impossible to play much of next season either, if we have to enter more periods of lockdown. Even if games can be played behind closed doors, lower league teams will fold as they're so reliant on gate receipts. The future of the whole sport is in doubt to be honest. I think a lot of clubs will go bust and I can see professional teams reducing in England which is something teams in top 2 divisions have been looking to do for a while with Championship teams trying to form a breakaway league as well. VillaJ100
Well we should be OK having like the 3rd richest owners. It looked like SHA was going to the wall late this year anyway. If anything this has saved them as they will just be all 'muh coronavirus' and be let off.
Genie
FFP will need to be relaxed to allow owners who can afford to to save their clubs from bankruptcy.
