Sorry, but you have to talk like I were a golden retriever at this point. Surely the value of the "brand" would be valued under a sale.

In terms of asset valuations of the property, absolutely not as it is simply an estimated cost to rebuild the stadium.

With a sale you I would expect it to be considered, but I don't know any property valuers who would have the balls to actually try and assign a figure to this as it's so far away from our area of expertise. It's certainly something I'd never touch. There must be companies that specialise in valuing intangible elements like this though.

According to the Mirror we are the 3rd lowest paying team for wages in top flight

That may change in the coming seasons if we survive this season and next season goes well.

World class talent if we can attract it down the line will put an end to us being third lowest payers. Eventually the Owners will want big brand names at VP in the future, shame we can't do it now but it'd be a heck of a risk paying 70+ mill for a player only to be relegated.

We can only dream that all this turns in our favour that we can bring in some extraordinary talent when were more secure and built for the Premier.

You'll struggle to get game changers at this level for £60k a week - £160k a week maybe.

You have to find them from other leagues. Youri Tielamans for example is on around 40k a week. We pay a lot of money on wages in this country compared to other leagues in Europe.

Christian Eriksen is still only on £75k/w. Granted he's not signing a new contract that low but he's a superstar by now.

As you say, find them abroad.

It's 3rd lowest according to the mirror.

i'd be very surprised if we are the 3rd lowest wage bill. We have 3 international keepers, any players signed under Xia will be on loads of money (I'd expect Kodija, Lansbery, Hourihane etc wages to have gone up on promotion - possibly doubled) and the two brazilians moving for high transfer fees won't come cheap. There's no way Sheffield United, Norwich, Brighton, Newcastle or Soutampton players being on more money not a chance. Watford & Bournemouth I'd expect woud be quite similar

Was scrolling through the Athletic articles from the start of the season and there was one about Gary Cahill after we decided not to sign him and I found the quote surprising.

Quote

Cahill wanted a two-year deal on around £80,000 a week, a salary that would have made him Villa’s top earner ahead of captain Jack Grealish, The Athletic understands.

I thought Grealish would be on 6 figures, maybe we are the 3rd lowest in the Prem.

I’d expect Norwich and Sheff United to be the bottom 2. The rest having now spent a few years in this league I expect to have higher wage bills.

I think it’s a good thing considering how our club has been ran for so many years.

Sheffield and norwich would be below is, but the others could easily be above us. Bournemouth have brought a few players from Liverpool who would’ve wanted high wages to go there. Newcastle have “big name” players who would again take on high wages. Watford, have probably paid more on managers than our wage bill the last few years.Southampton and Brighton are small clubs in the premier league, to get people go there they’d need to offer good wages.

Yes if they're in the 26-30 age range and more proven which isn't a market we're shopping in much nowadays.

Given we'll continue to look at under 25 market you can pick up some decent players from the major leagues on that amount. Given all the money in the premier league people forget most teams in the other major leagues can't get close to those sorts of wages although once premier league interest is heard of suddenly the agents are asking for double their wages of course.

Maybe not the best source but look at the salaries for the Lyon squad if reasonably accurate:

https://sillyseason.com/salary/lyon-players-salaries-128515/

Quote
Player Name Age Weekly wages Contract until
Memphis Depay 25 € 80,500 2021
Bertrand Traoré 23 € 69,000 2022
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa 30 € 69,000 2020
Rafael 29 € 57,500 2021
Anthony Lopes 28 € 50,500 2020
Moussa Dembélé 23 € 48,000 2023
Maxwel Cornet 22 € 41,404 2021

Moussa Dembele getting 40k a week if we convert it to pounds sterling, pretty good value for one of the most promising young strikers in europe. Would probably double his wages if he came back to Britain but even 80k is pretty good value for his age.

Do you get your info from this site mate, according to this he's "only" on 33k although again not sure how accurate:

https://www.spotrac.com/Premier League/leicester-city/payroll/

Maddison a proper game changer at this level on 55k a week so guess that shows advantage of getting someone from championship.

Mind you I've just looked at our squad list and not sure those figures are hugely credible.

According to the list Mings and McGinn are on 25k (has to be before both signed new deals surely?!) but then all our new signings are on the list with Jota on 25k and AEG 30k. Top earner according to that is Heaton on 42k and comically Lansbury on 40k is second (guy has an amazing agent if that's anywhere near true).

Probably some of the figures are true and some are wildly inaccurate.

Norwich massively overspent last time they were in the prem (hence they had to quickly sell their good players in Maddison and Jacob Murphy when they didn't go straight back up). I remember hearing from someone that Alex Tetty was on 60k a week in 15/16, he's actually still there although would assume he had a wage reduction in last few years.

I did and I agree the salary’s seem too low. These players must be on more.
