Yeah, just said to my Mrs - it’s the US that worries me. Reports from journalists in Florida saying the state doesn’t even have any testing kits available!!? Given Spring Break is just round the corner and they have that little place called Disneyworld that a few international people tend to visit each year, it’s a bit of a worry. I’m due to go to Orlando in 3 weeks, can’t say I’m feeling excited by the prospect at the moment! On the other hand, if I can make it there without falling ill, it might be the quietist it’s ever been!

chrisp65
U.S. will be absolutely fine. They’ve already had a very high level prayer meeting and ordered a load of flu jabs.

Mother-in-law is due to go to the Dolomites in June and sees no reason not to. I’m all for it but my missus is doing her nut that she won’t see sense. Interestingly CDC has edited its website to remove figures for number of patients tested. The US system is charging patients at the front-end for tests and the back-end for quarantine. Not only immoral but mind-numbingly stupid if they wanted to control the rate of spread. Depending on how the US system holds up for the public at large Vs the European socialised systems, it might be the one thing that loses Trump the election. President Bernie not seeming so far-fetched after all! Edited March 3, 2020 by Awol 1

I wonder if their election season, which will see two men in their seventies wandering around shaking every hand they can find for five months might have an interesting twist at the end of the narrative. President Bernie not seeming so far-fetched after all! Thanks. We’ve got insurance, but to get the flight money back, we’d need the ‘all but essential travel’ announcement to be made. That ain’t gonna happen unless things get seriously, seriously bad in the next couple of weeks. Profit over people.

There was a story whilst I was there that Disney was expecting to lose about $175m due to its theme parks in Tokyo and Shanghai being closed. I know they have deep pockets, but wonder how long they could last if the Florida resorts close? This virus could grind the world to a halt. This is my issue (and I appreciate I am taking over this thread with a very selfish, 1st world problem when people are actually dying and stuff, but in fairness my holiday might get ruined AND I might die too!). Profit will come first, people a distant second. The US administration is almost as bad as the Chinese for propaganda and worrying more about image than reality. Trump’s only concern is the stock market and moaning about interest rates, the republican administration are beyond incompetent and they have no proper public healthcare system. The news starting to filter out of there is a massive concern and I’m going to be reliant on our authorities cutting through the BS and making the right call. My concern would be insurance cover if you got ill or stranded, or locked down. Could be very expensive and you’d be powerless.

Popular Post LakotaDakota
Not a huge fan of memes but this one does seem to ring true a little. Given the relatively low number of cases there seems to be an rediculous amount of stories like this : We were in China eating some lovely bat soup when we heard about the corona virus, rather than completely ruin the trip we decided to fly to Iran for a couple of days to lick some holy monuments. Back in the hotel we noticed that the thumb wrestling worldwide amateur open was going on in Milan so we decided to take a detour there and try our luck on the way home. On returning to the UK, We headed out to watch the football and rounded the evening off with a sold out gig at the o2. On monday i went back to work as a masseuse & my partner returned to their job as a greeter/doorman at the busiest hotel in london Edited March 3, 2020 by LakotaDakota 1
