Perfect cure for the weekends kick in the teeth!

Through to the next round with a victory.  

Much needed game time for the 2nd team, especially good to see the full game from Targett who will hopefully start to put pressure on for a start.

Hopefully we can take this winning feeling into the league game on Saturday!

Always good to get a win and I liked the way we went about it. 

Reality check - it was our second stringers against theirs.

It was basically a reasonable Villa side vs Gaetan Bong and some lads from the local 6th form, but you can only beat what's in front of you. Other PL sides went out to lower league opposition, so I'm happy.

i'd rather leave this competition to the second string and let Grealish and McGinn have a breather though, tbh, regardless of who we draw next.

This result could turn our season around, proven that beating Everton wasn't just a one off and that we can go to an away premier league ground and score three goals. If we go on to survive now we might look back upon this game as the turning point. And we need to win a trophy at last.

I give Targett MOTM because Tony Daley said so. 

I only heard the last half an hour or so on the Jack Woodward commentary so I really have no idea what happened, just like Jack Woodward.

Absolutely buzzing to be through to the next round, some people may not have given a shit, but thankfully our manager did. Great team selection, great move bringing on Jack to kill the game and confidence is now high going into Saturday's important game. Who's to say we cant stay up and have a trip to Wembley?! A bit of luck in the draw and you never know!

Villa B vs. Brighton C.

Right choice from DS, with this win Sunday's bad feelings were at least mitigated.

Saw only second half. Based on that, Jack was good. 

We kept the ball well, but Brighton seemed to settle for the loss early.

Davis can't buy a goal, unfortunately.

Professional. We weren't really dominant or exciting, but we were comfortable enough and competent enough. Looking forward to the draw.

I just don’t see how this happens without a huge tactical restructure - Nakamba or Luiz will take the DM position and Grealish and McGinn obviously won’t be dropped
