The thing that worried me was Emery said 'we'll send him for the scan tomorrow', not sure if choice of words but I would hope we have a specialist(s) on retainer and get it scanned and being treated and iced etc literally as soon as possible surely waiting till the next day could have a very adverse effect?

Having done my cruciate 3 times from experience there’s no point in having a scan for at least 24 hours due to the swelling in the knee.
Waiting until tomorrow won’t make any difference to any operation and rehab programme.

Just prior to the Mings injury yesterday we had a free kick that was played out wide. The ref blew up and in commentary they said it was for offside, it clearly wasn’t for offside though as Digne was miles on. Does anyone know what the reason was for the free kick against us?

It was before the Emi yellow card , not the injury

Ref gave it as a Newcastle player threw himself to the floor and ref saw it as a block on the edge of the area .. pretty much identical to the block on Cash for their opening goal , that VAR decided was legal

edit - reading the rest of the thread I see about 400 people have already answered this :)

Don't think it could have been obstruction though - I believe obstruction was removed from the laws quite a few years ago.  Wrongly in my view, because many fouls given when players are supposedly barge din the back are actually obstruction the other way.

And if we are lamenting the loss of 38 year old Ashley Young as a mistake then I think we are in a much worse position than many of us imagined, and need to question our recruitment

I’m almost in tears seeing his response to the injury. The man is a f**king ledg, as far as I’m concerned.

He has been on an incredible journey with us. He has been through it all for us. A warrior. A total legend, and more of a one than Grealish ever can claim to be.

Is no news yet on Ty a bad sign or possibly good one? Impossible to know.

Didn't we think ACL for Kamara and Konsa after they were injured?

I think its a really bad injiry simply because tyrone doesnt stay down like that and you could see how much pain that is. With kamara and konsa i dont think it seemed as bad as tys one. A bloody freak accident we have no luck.

Yeah my guess is the same. I think Ty has done multiple ligaments like he did in his other knee and was out for 15/16 months that time.

Football is a ruthless game and we seem to get the worst luck with these serious injuries. I just pray it's "just" his ACL and he can make it back this season for the Semi Finals and Final of the ECL

I imagine it probably just means that his scan is being done today.  Whilst obviously it would be possible to do a scan on a Sunday - I suspect that they need to give time for the swelling in the knee to subside a bit so that the specialists can actually get a proper look at what has happened.  I'd imagine that there will be an update either later today or tomorrow.

We can replace Tyrone as a CB, but not as a leader and probably not soon as an organiser of the defensive line. Pau needs to srep up here, but language and other barriers mean that it'll take time.

I can live with a bad result, but this happening to Ty has deflated me.

I know what you mean, I was excited for this season but watching that happen to Ty, combined with little Emi's injury, has completely deflated my enthusiasm

I don't mean to be overly negative, but replacing him as a CB is going to be very difficult as well.. He's got to be in the top 10 CB in the league.. I totally get your point though add all his leadership qualities to his physical and football talent.. and this is a punch to the gut.

My sentiment too, the Buendia and particularly Mings have really put a dampener on the season already. I’m sure we will bounce back after that result, but any serious injury is a sickener.

I think it's almost safe to assume the worst just because of his reaction, unfortunately. It wasn't like he was simply in pain, it seemed like he was devastated because having suffered the injury previously he already knew what it was.

Similarly to what has been said above I'm still gutted about this one, has hung over the weekend far more than the result of the game. Not really one to get attached to players given being older + the general murky world of football at the top level nowadays, but Mings was a bit of an exception for all the obvious factors of being a great player in terms of importance as much as ability, having a story behind him and just seeming as an all-round good egg. It's the kind of thing that puts a dampener on the season, at least in the short term, but fingers crossed he'll be alright and back just as strong whenever that may be.
