Ørjan Nyland

It's always difficult to judge a keeper after so few games.  Confidence is often the crucial attribute for young goalkeepers.  The more clean sheets we manage will boost that confidence.  I would prefer to wait until January before writing him off at this early stage!

In goalkeeper terms it’s young.  We signed Friedel when he was around 36

Surely he wasn’t that old? He went on to play for Spurs after us for a good few years.

Christ we have had some bloody good goalkeepers in our history... Nyland.... hope he comes good.

One good game in fifteen appearances, having cost us points and letting in several very poor goals. He still has a lot to do, needs to continue like this until Jan in order to secure his place, otherwise he's gone.

Furthermore, Derby didn’t probe his weaknesses, notably command of area, decision making and catching. SHA will, and will be a more fitting test IMO. But at least there’s foundations to build upon.

Unless cutler can work his jedi powers on Moreira as well, then we will need another keeper in January regardless of how nyland performs.

Nyland could reach a fork in the road now cutlers here. ?
