Israel, Palestine and Iran

Great to see the Palestinians in Rafah openly protesting Hamas. It'll at least work partly to throw off the 'they all support Hamas' idiocy that Israel\Sky News Australia is bandying around.

'What the Jews did'? That can't sit comfortably with anyone who is Jewish. Reminds me of Farage being a rocket polisher in the EU parliament, on behalf of the Brits.

Meh, I think it’s a promising step forward from the pricks on at least one side that they have almost reached a state of self awareness.

If she has developed the ability to think Gazan babies will be told ‘what they did’, then the next step is to theorise on what revenge they may then be talked in to taking. If the Hamas side can also reach this state of self awareness and think what the Israeli children of victims of murder might do, then we could really be making progress.

I've just accidentally seen the picture of the Palestinan (kid?) squashed by the tank. He had cable ties on his hands so looks like he had previously been detained. Horrific image that is imprinted on my brain forever.

WHETHER REPORTING FROM the Middle East, the United States, or anywhere else across the globe, every CNN journalist covering Israel and Palestine must submit their work for review by the news organization’s bureau in Jerusalem prior to publication, under a long-standing CNN policy. While CNN says the policy is meant to ensure accuracy in reporting on a polarizing subject, it means that much of the network’s recent coverage of the war in Gaza — and its reverberations around the world — has been shaped by journalists who operate under the shadow of the country’s military censor.

Quote

CNN, like other American broadcasters, has repeatedly agreed to submit footage recorded in Gaza to the military censor prior to airing it in exchange for limited access to the strip, drawing criticism from those who say the censor is providing a filtered view of events unfolding on the ground.

Interesting read.

I am dreading what Ramadan will bring. Israel historically amp up their apartheid policies and actions during the holy month. Expect more innocent people killed in West Bank as well as Gaza. Expect Al Aqsa to be the scenes of some pretty horrible things.

The US is looking to establish a temporary port in order to break the blockade of Gaza that Israel maintains with the assistance of the US.

It's a strange, strange conflict.

It is a strange conflict indeed.

Lord Snooty Cameron had words with the visiting Israeli delegation yesterday, where apparently he warned them that we were getting very close to needing to start thinking about possibly warning them that we were approaching the end of our tolerance of recent events. Stern stuff indeed.

The guy from the BBC asked if this meant we would stop supplying arms. He was told that our arms sales to our trusted and valued long term Israeli friend and ally were very minor in comparison with what the U.S. sold them, so no.

Securing the votes and donations from both Islamic and Israeli communities by having a war with themselves in the Middle East is a bit extreme.

The US are 100% in support of one side in this conflict but this gesture is at least pretending to not be. They'll try to use it in the election.
