This team looks not at all prepared, disjointed and tentative. Even at home against modest opposition. Of all the things that can be overlooked and forgiven, a poorly prepared team is not one of them. What, if anything, goes on at Bodymoor Heath? Are they tidying up ahead of HS2 already? There's a couple of people saying SOME of the stuff being said about Bruce is over the top. Literally nobody has said that wanting Bruce gone is hysterical. Popular Post jacketspuds Posted September 19, 2017 Popular Post Share Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) I get why some people want Bruce to be given a chance but, for me, he's had enough resources and time to get enough out of this squad to have us in the Top 6 and not needing to play the first team in Cup competitions, against another Championship clubs reserve team, in order to get a result. The stats are not pretty when it comes to Bruce's performance so far and, given how brilliantly we do after a victory, the 3-0 win over Barnsley could very well be papering over the cracks. Yes, we scored 3 times in our last league game but the performance wasn't great (hoofball / 39% possession), which is quite key for me. It might be effective on occasion to lump the ball about but it can't be sustainable and, taking tonight's game in to consideration, that's 3 of the last 4 games that we've failed to score in now and all of them have been at home. We've scored 8 goals in 6 games over the last 4 weeks, which isn't terrible. However, 4 of them were against Wigan and 3 were against Barnsley so it's not like we're consistent or even that good. We get the odd win here and there but I just don't see anything convincing from the performances, and I certainly don't hear anything convincing coming out of Bruce's mouth to suggest that we are going to go on a barnstorming run that will see us challenge other teams at the top of the league. However this needs to be backed up on Saturday with a win against a better side. Can we do this? Well I think Bruce implied it pretty strongly, and others have too. Ok I don't watch Liverpool, but that does seem a tad impatient, however it does put criticism of Steve Bruce into perspective. We play awful, negative football that achieves no sort of consistent results, but woe betide anyone who finds fault with our glorious leader. Herr Klopp was also referred to as a clown running a circus. More beastly comments aimed at him after tonight I'd imagine too. Insensitive lot those Scousers.
