He's on a downward trajectory, he'd be a short term appointment, dubious playing style , dubious loyalty record to those clubs he has managed and compared to Rowett he has a shit personality. Even thouse actively promoting Bruce on her recognise he shouldn't be a long term solution and we should get rid of him as soon as we get up, if we get up. For me the long term benefit of this club is not served by another short term appointment . I'd like someone to come in and build a dynasty and identity . That is not Bruce and if it is meant to be Bruce I don't want his identity imprint on the club

Will always love the villa and will follow them with as much passion and pride as before. Just don't waste my time and money on watching a Steve Bruce villa team. Simple as! I really hope he is a success and I get these words rammed down my throat next season, but I have a personal long held dislike for the man,. Just because he will villa manager won't change that. Perfectly entitled to hold that opinion.
imavillan
if it is to be Bruce, i hope he gets us up and we then say thanks but no thanks, now do one, and then we get someone a lot better in to take us up a level. Hasn't had any real success as a manager in the past. Great assistant but as the main man for a promotion charge? I can't see how anyone could see it. I went through all this with the likes of Tommy Docherty/ Tommy cummings in the 60/70's We need a manager who recognises the importance of the basics and actions it. who ever that may be......it seems to me, no one has a clue. We are being linked with managers who are in the middle of "projects" just like our own Ron Saunders in the 70's......we have to find our own at the start of our "project" l don't know whether Steve Bruce is right or an up and coming whipper snapper, its only when you talk/ interview them will you have any idea. Aston Villa is only a poison chalice.....to those that are unsure of their ability. A confident soul full of substance....will become a hero.....that I have no doubt. We have been appointing failures, thats why we are where we are. and so did Huddersfield, before they found their man.
sheepyvillian
After a Kafkaesque five moon in Milton Keynes , i'm glad to report that the sheepy is still breathing , albeit with the odd puff of the inhaler , As for my opinion on who should take the wheel . The man who will be the quickest in planting a winning mentality .

I be frankly amazed if we could tempt a PL manager. I think the thing with Dyche is that he has been with Burnley for a few years now so is not at the beginning of a journey with them like Wagner. They are unlikely to ever become an established PL club, the best he can probably hope for is to yoyo up and down the leagues. He will obviously have complete faith in his own ability to get us promoted and even without having a Vision sold to him by Tony he would probably feel he could take Villa up and have a far better chance of staying up and doing something. Add to the mix Tony WILL be selling him a vision of big things he might well decide the time is right to move on. He is leaving Burnley in a good position so wouldn't feel like he's letting them down or anything..... The time just might be right

JV should being the operative word....there are fans still talking "pie in the sky" We are not only in the championship we are courting the 1st Division. I do not readily get some of the comments on here.....there are run of the mill managers who are showing us the way home, because they do the simple things and haven't got their heads up their arses. We need a manager who understands Aston Villa the team and not get his head in the clouds with Aston Villa the club. as we have been dropping like a stone....the bricks and mortar have been in attendance and watching in disdain .....just as disappointed as we are. This club was built for success......and at present the team is a shadow of the club. Edited October 7, 2016 by TRO

He got promoted last season, hardly a downward trajectory I'd say Rowett's playing style is no better than Bruce's and I couldn't care less about a managers personality, I care about results. Fow what it's worth, Bruce isn't my choice but I don't get why he's hated by some. Edited October 7, 2016 by mikeyp102
