Not a championship team anymore but Sheffield Wednesday look to be in all sorts of trouble, they owe their players £12m in wages which could result in a big points deduction or even expulsion from the league, they also owe their fans refunds, looks like they might fail FFP and haven't filed their latest accounts on time, there's also talk of them going into administration.

The football league should be punished for allowing this shit to happen. Not the club or the fans.

Sheffield Weds went for it with Bruce and an expensive team the season we went up.

Same as Derby with an expensive team and 3 premier league loanees.

Tony Xia did exactly the same thing, literally mortgaged the lot to try and get up. We are so so fortunate NSWE came in to save us, otherwise would be where they are now.

Wednesday's problem is the wage bill which was already one of the most expensive in the championship before Bruce even became their manager, they'd been spending big in that area since the time of Carvalhal. And because that team initially did well in reaching the play-off final they kept hold of those players and hence the wage bill for too long.

Scott Parker leaving Fulham and going to Bournemouth.

Darn, a few more weeks and Levy would be giving him the Spurs job. Ah well.

Sideways and strange move. Seems like he had a job for life at Fulham

Massively fallen out with the owners, he didn't like that dig Kahn's son said on twitter early part of last season and think he wanted some more transfers in January.

From the EFL's statement:

Tonight, the Disciplinary Commission has announced that the sanction to be imposed in respect of those breaches, is a financial penalty of £100,000 to be paid to the EFL and a reprimand for the Club as to its future conduct regarding the preparation of its Annual Accounts.

In addition, the Club has also been ordered to file restated accounts for financial years ending 30 June 2016, 2017 and 2018 that meet the requirements of FRS102, together with updated Profit & Sustainability calculations if necessary.

Both Derby County and the EFL have the right to appeal that sanction decision.

That being the case, ahead of the publication of the 2021/22 season fixture lists on 24 June at 9am, the EFL can confirm that it has developed an interchangeable fixture list for Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers, while the disciplinary process is finalised.

That there's going to be a set of fixtures for Derby for both the championship and League One, doesn't bode well for them. But then they can appeal, which does Wycombe no good, who will need to know as soon as possible for which league it is that they're to budget for next season.

Was impressed with Mendes Gomes for Morcambe in the play-off semi-final, he didn't get on the ball a great deal but when he did you could tell he had something about him, and perhaps should be playing at an higher level. Apparently a few championship clubs and Rangers interested in signing him.

Just seen that he's gone to Luton.

It will be interesting to see how Sheffield United do, they haven't signed any new players so it's basically the same squad that failed so badly last year, not easy to get out of the kind of bad run that they were in, even in a new season and in the division below, as we found out, and probably a better comparsion Sunderland, because they too didn't make many changes to their squad after relegation and of course ended up getting relegated again. WIll be a question of whether Jokanović can make the difference, hope they get off to a good start today.

One of the oldest clubs in the world. Really sad to see this.

I think they got an injection of cash from somewhere, because since then I think they've paid their players and have made some good signings, they're one of the favorites for promotion now.
