useless
I don't think he actually left to come back. Maybe he'll be used a lot more now though. Especially with Little advising as well.

Looking back it seems Lee Hendrie replaced him as ambassador on the 2014 pre season tour because Lambert was unhappy about something he wrote. Maybe he has been back in since Lambert left though I can't recall seeing him on the O/S much.

DaveAV1
Superb a proper fan and some way removed from the ridiculous false goal celebration I witnessed from Stanley Victor on the Holte End earlier this season.

Any one else nostalgic for the days when fans used to bite the players instead of just touching them?

Popular Post markavfc40
Seeing that video from yesterday takes me back. In 1998 we played Sheff Wednesday away and Ian Taylor was out either injured or suspended, I can't remember now. Anyway I was at Hillsborough that day and standing behind me was Ian Taylor singing with the rest of us and going absolutely barmy when we scored. It was quite surreal having a current player singing the names of his colleagues as passionately as the rest of us. It is great he is still involved with the club as it is essential that people like him, and Brian Little, who know what this club is all about and how much it means to us all, that can convey that passion to those at the club.

Maybe he has been back in since Lambert left though I can't recall seeing him on the O/S much. There was a brief flurry around the 2014/5 pre-season tour to the US. Taylor was due to travel with the squad but was replaced at short notice by Lee Hendrie. Press speculation was that Taylor had been stood down by Lambert who objected to Taylor's comments at the end of the 2013/4 seaon that Villa deserved better than constant relegation battles. (Good job Lambert didn't read Villatalk too much ). However Lee Hendrie denied there had been a rift with Tayls and IT was working as Villa Ambassador again by November 2014, although he made clear he was not that close to Lambert. I think the difference now is that "Villa Ambassador" was quite a limited role and Tayls canvassed for a bigger role with the new owners. Looks like he got it. HanoiVillan
I loved his half-time analysis a couple of weeks ago as well (sorry, can't remember the game, though I think it may have been Derby) - just told it like it was, no soft soap, excellent. Legend.
alreadyexists Posted March 5, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted March 5, 2017 Love that video, what a bloke. I didn't think it was possible to like Ian Taylor any more than I already did, but there you have it! Proper legend.
