Lots of points on offer over Xmas period. If we get a few wins things could look different in a week from now. If we don't pick up anything in the next three. Don't worry about last rites.. Call the funeral company.

This, really.

Not over yet - there's still the faintest of lights at the end of the tunnel.

But if he'd gone to Stoke and been amazing the board and Sherwood would've been panned aswell, lack of ambition etc.

I just wish we'd bloody play him, I've said it enough.

I have no doubt if he went to Stoke he'd be very good.

Difference is they have the foundations of a solid Premier League team and can now start to add flair players to the mix.

We've tried to do it on the foundations of a team in constant relegation battles.

Win against West Ham could revive our season

We said that against Watford... then Newcastle... eventually we just have to recognise that it's too late. It'll be Norwich that'll 'kick start' our season after this game..

We can say it up til its mathematically impossible

1.47 points per game to get to 38 points.

We currently average 0.41 per game

Win our next three we'll need 0.81 per game (every team from 17th placed Newcastle upwards are currently averaging above this).

Draw our next three we'll need 1.55 per game (every team from 7th place Watford upwards are currently averaging above this).

Lose our next three we'll need 1.72 per game (Only Man City, Arsenal and Leicester are averaging above this).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So realistically we need 5-6 points from the next 3 games that would require top 10-12 form to keep us up, certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.

That's the positive spin, the negative is 1.47 per game is required at the moment and only West Ham upwards are averaging above that.

So top 8 form required for the remainder of the season, as it stands.

Good to see positivity, but unfortunately we'll need more than 0.81 points per game even if we went on a miraculous run and won our next 3. It would leave us with 16 points from 20 games, requiring a further 22 points from 18 games at 1.22 PPG. A fairly tough ask, as over the season that equates to 46 points, a total we haven't amassed since the 2010-2011 season.

Just looked at our relegation rivals fixtures and they could easily go our way in the next month or so. It's all up to us to win these games.  Especially the 6 pointers with Sunderland and Norwich. We will beat west ham and it will provide the team with confidence and get the monkey off our backs. With January close by to improve if the gap is narrowed to 5-6 points.. Then you never know. Ayew and Veretout looked to have finally settled. Not over yet... It's close to being over if we can't get 7 points in the next three games.

Relegation is the shadow of things that may be, only. Not the shadow of things that will be. If our current course is departed from, then the end will change.

"Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they shadows of things that May be, only?"

Useless has a touch of the Ebenezers :) Appropriate for this time of year ;)

Bournemouth have just won 3 in a row. Against Chelsea, Manchester United and West Brom away. Before that they were shit, utterly shit.

Yes they were working hard which is something we haven't been doing up until last weekend, but they were **** dreadful. Picking up the odd point here and there like we are, but to reiterate, they were shit.

It's not crazy to suggest we might win one, get a bit of confidence and a couple more will follow. It happened to ourselves last season. IF that happens again VERY SOON and we are within 4 or 5 points going into February say, it's far from over.

It's unlikely, but the draw at the weekend in a game which could have gone either way has given me a smidgen of hope.
