Had a bad knee injury last i heard but with 18months left of a £50k a week contract wont be going anywhere quick without a pay off.

Will probably end up like the Rodger Johnson scenario!

Explained: What's happening with Aston Villa's Micah Richards

Aston Villa transfer news includes a look at the future of forgotten man Micah Richards

The 21,677 supporters who trekked down to Villa Park on Saturday might have been expecting two Premier League winning former England internationals to line up against Peterborough United.

One of them, John Terry, did as he made his long-awaited comeback from a broken metatarsal - but the other was nowhere to be seen.

The other, of course, is Micah Richards. The 29-year-old defender was touted for great things as a youngster and broke into Manchester City’s team before going on to earn 13 senior caps with England.

FA Cup success followed, as did Premier league glory (twice) before an exciting opportunity arose out in Italy with Fiorentina.

Richards was by no means a regular in Serie A for Fiorentina, but he was in the Europa League and cup competitions.

A return home followed upon the expiry of his loan deal and a move to Aston Villa and the city of his birth beckoned.

an article that explains absolutely nothing about why he isn't playing.

Shocking that he's still only 29. Has he no self respect?

Exactly.

He's got 6 or 7 years left in this game at this level easily if he got his head out his arse and took a leaf out of Terry's book.

Unbelievable.

What is he meant to do if he is injured?

How long has he been injured for?

The man has disappeared from football it seems with or without injury, unless it is career changing then different story, but if that was the case then the club need to state that.

He won’t last that long, Terry has kept himself fit and active all of his career. Richards has bulked up so has to carry hefty weight around every match which his body cannot take (see also Gabby). Plus Richards has a tiny little percentage of Terry’s attitude and ability.

I think he will more or less disappear from top flight football after this contract, unless he can find another sucker to sign him in the hope of him regaining former glories (from 5 years plus now!)

Maybe he did... wrong Terry, though

The plus side he is only 29.. but like you say.. bulked up and it sounds like we are talking about players in their late 30's when we mention this perhaps being his last club at this level perhaps at the end of his contract.. or is it a case of wrong manager who does not rate him perhaps?

They probably should considering he is a key player.

Could be a key player.

Still good to shed some light to justify why what otherwise looks like he is just wondering around the club picking up a wage, would you agree?

Edit  *If he was injured that is.

Yes they should. If he wasn't injured he would be playing for the reserves.
