rodders0223
If he was on the bench then I certainly didn't see him warm up once. Can anyone confirm?

If he made it all the way along the touch line to the bench that'd count as a pretty rigorous work out by his standards. 2

lapal_fan
It's like a gym membership gone badly wrong isn't it? We're paying him to use our gym - that's literally all's he is doing. Only, he has to use the gym 4 times a week. £50,000 a week+?

I know I'm pissing in the wind here (or in this case, spitting gum in the wind), but wasn't that primarily Lescott and Guzan? Richards was the one trying to diffuse the situation as I recall. It was a rare moment where Richards emerged with a modicum of credit.
Paddywhack
We've had plenty to choose from, but I think he'll go down as the Villa signing I've been being most disappointed with, closely followed by Lescott. Two players that I'd always liked and wanted to see wearing the Villa shirt one day and we signed them together in the same window, I was delighted. Shows what I know, both of them ended up being utter tripe, more-so Richards IMO. Christ knows why he still insists on being a centre back, I always thought he looked (marginally) better and more comfortable at right back. Now he's still here picking up a fortune and he can't even make the starting 11 in the 2nd string. He's still here for another 2 years! It's best not to think about it.

You could be right, but then I also blame him for global warming and the rampant globalisation that is leading us all to ruin. Sooner or later I'll be right about something he has done.

He's what the yanks in the nfl call a 'bust'. He's finished physically and has been for 3 years. What gets me is the fact fiorentina sent him back during his loan period. They were an average team in an average league and he couldn't cut it. Didn't that ring any alarm bells with anyone within our specialist 'recruitment' team?

No. If fit he should be one of the best defenders in the league. If we are paying him we should be playing him.
