Aston Villa and Tottenham are keeping tabs on clean sheet specialist Nick Pope.

Charlton goalkeeper Pope is attracting top-flight admirers after racking up an impressive 25 shut outs in 40 league games while out on loan during the last two seasons.

The 22-year-old inspired York City into last year's play-offs with 15 clean sheets in 22 League Two appearances, including a run of seven in a row.

And he has kept 10 more in 18 games this term to help Bury into League Two promotion contention.

Villa and Spurs are now eyeing former Ipswich youngster Pope having earmarked him as, initially, a potential back-up keeper.

Pope, whose current Charlton deal runs until 2018, is valued at around £750,000 by the Addicks.

Aston Villa are leading the race to secure the free transfer of Manchester City’s Micah Richards when his contract expires in June – but face a major battle with four other Premier League sides.

The Villans are keen to bolster their squad next season as they look to grow under Tim Sherwood and have identified Richards as one of their top targets, according to London 24.

The England international, 26, has been loaned out to Fiorentina this season but Everton, Stoke, West Ham and Southampton are all eyeing a move for him.

Villa are the favourites to land him but they know they will have to move soon if they are to secure a deal.

Apparently it's pretty much a done deal that Luongo will be headed your way. There'll also be some of your youngsters headed our way, but that much was pretty much nailed on once Sherwood joined you anyway.

Can you provide us a link to your forum or wherever your ITK is (regarding Luongo) please mate?

I think he can step up to be honest, happy if we are in for him!

Sorry mate, I can't help on the ITK stuff. It's hardly a scoop anyway as we Town fans were all expecting it as soon as Sherwood ended up with you lot.

You can ask more here though: www.thetownend.com, which is our main forum.

LOL!! like this is going to happen!!

http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/26/liverpool-line-up-sensational-30million-transfer-swap-deal-for-aston-villas-christian-benteke-with-rickie-lambert-heading-the-other-way-5167432/

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a sensational £30million transfer swap deal to land Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, with Rickie Lambert heading in the other direction.

The Reds are keen to add firepower to their front line, which has been criticised for being over reliant on Daniel Sturridge, according to the Mail.

The burly Belgian has been in stunning form since Tim Sherwood arrived and scored against Liverpool as the Villans dumped them out of the FA Cup.

Villa tried to sign Rickie Lambert in January and would be willing to take him as part of the deal but are still likely to demand £30million for their most valuable commodity.

Reports in The Metro claim that Liverpool are going to propose a swap deal for Aston Villa's Christian Benteke - with Rickie Lambert going in the other direction.

But before you think Liverpool have pulled off the deal of the century, it would still take £30m to prise the Belgian from Villa Park, according to the report.

Benteke scored as Villa beat Liverpool in the FA Cup and they had previously tried to sign Lambert in the January transfer window, but that was under old boss Paul Lambert.

New manager Tim Sherwood has helped Benteke rediscover his goalscoring touch, and he's now notched 12 goals in all competitions this season.

And finally, James Milner could be closing in on a move to Anfield if reports this morning can be believed.

The Manchester City midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and Brendan Rodgers has long been linked with a move for the player.

Well apparently that deal is now done with an "Anfield source" telling newspapers that the move was sealed and the Reds have beaten Roma and Arsenal to the England man's signature.
