Midfield very average. Sanchez gives the ball back as much as he wins it. Everyone else had no impact.

Weimann can't hold the ball up for toffee and missed the chance to win the game. Could have been level with Liverpool. Burnley and Leicester critical- 4 points at least or it's going to be a long, dark, bleak, winter for the Villa faithful.

 

Villa are to use the spinal tap phrase, treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry. We are probably not even interesting enough to actually get relegated.  A constant state of purgatory with no ending in sight. Bah.

Well it felt like defeat even though we expected a spanking.

 

Nothing in that performance to make me think anything is getting better.

 

Okore looks a unit though, Hutton, Gabby did well - everyone else worked hard, but as many have said we can't play this negatively all the time.

 

Weimann was playing as a second left back for most of the game?????

Okore was brilliant considering he's been alienated by Lambert, Clark very good, Gabby had one of his 4 decent games a year

Hutton was ok, everybody else 0/10 for quality and 10/10 for running around

Lambert hoped for the best with no gameplan and came out with a point

The best thing about that was the way we reacted after conceding the goal, we took the game to them and didn't sit too deep like previous games.  That's a great result for us with all things considered. I thought Clark was brilliant and had his best game for us in a long time, fair play to him. It was good to see Okore play well and he looked strong and calm. Hutton was good.  Westwood had a decent game and got stuck in as well as playing some really nice passes to get us out on the counter. Gabby and Weimann had decent games apart from the goal when they both take a bit of the blame.

edit:  we get a draw vs the team second in the league and restrict them to barely any good chances and certain folk still can't see any positives....what a surprise.....Just to point out to some of you, we were missing Vlaar, Delph, Senderos, Baker and Benteke while Southampton had there full strength team out.!!!!!

Playing like this will kill the players off. We look so much better pushing forward but Lambert insists on playing this boring crap defensive football. They were no where near us when we started to play higher up, surely people can see this. He really needs to gain some faith in his players!!

A point is better than a smack around the head with a wet fish but we really need to stop playing like the away team at VP and backs to the wall defending will, more often than not, end in not winning a game of football.

Weinman what is the point? Run around a lot and lose the ball and if he is the best finisher at the club we might as well give up now!! Clyne a defender shows him how to hit it first time. Something has to change we have players missing of course but what difference will they make if we can't pass the ball 10 yards!! Frustrating

Really good I thought. Of course Southampton were going to pin us back, they're full of confidence and riding high and we're not. Thought we were set up well, not pressing high but once they came into our half we chased them. They are no great shakes, this is the start of a very bad run for them looking at the next few fixtures. A welcome break from the circlejerk over them.

 

Okore and Clark deserve to start the next game regardless of who's available. You HAVE to reward performances like that. Gave Clark MOTM even though I'm so unbelievably happy with and for Okore but Clark was clearly the one calling the shots in there and I thought he was immense. 

 

No one let themselves down, I think Sanchez was utterly knackered coming off. He did a lot more running than sitting deep tonight and did well bar his mandatory brain fart.

 

With Benteke we'd have won that.
