Yeah I get that. But you could probably get that done after you've won the actual battle. You know, make sure everyone is dead first and then kill the crippled guy who can't do anything.

The darkness stuff.

It was annoying at first. Any sort of glare on the screen made it impossible. I actually waited half an hour until it was nearly dark and then tried again and it was far far better

Best part for me

When the little girl was getting crushed and she stabbed dead giant in the eye

Quality scene

Considering she was only ever meant to have a minor part in one scene, a couple of seasons back, what a way to go!

General discussion...Do we really need to all use spoiler tags in a topic that's almost exclusively about spoilers? If you're daft enough to come in to the topic without being up to date, you get what you deserve.

Well, that was intense. Part of me really enjoyed the sheer intensity of it all, part of me was left wanting more actual dramatic content. I shan’t be too picky, so overall I thought it was good television.

(But, yeah, turn up the light next time, pretty please.)

I guess you could attribute it to overconfidence. I mean, he'd just stood in an inferno with a smirk on his face.

They'd established him as this almost omnipotent being. As soon as you realise that all the northern defenders had done was make his army bigger, it was GG. There was never going to be a way to end that fight that didn't feel incredibly cheap.

I found Arya's part in the episode to all be a bit silly even without that. I know she's had all of the training and she's meant to be a bad-ass assassin, but doing acrobatics over the dead, and the whole "she's so bad ass, she has to design her own weapons because there aren't any good enough for her" thing? Eugh.

The only Arya bit I didn't like was when she was suddenly in that library bit sneaking around after she'd been outside slaying them in their hundreds.

I thought the set piece itself was great. But I did think I'd accidentally skipped ten minutes with the sudden jump from thousands of bodies piling in everywhere and chaos to half a dozen shuffling, stalking figures around a somehow silent room.

I presume that was meant to highlight how easily she could sneak around and avoid detection when the wights could even hear tiny drops of blood to try to make her sneaking up for the final attack a little less implausible.

Which was then slightly undermined by her roar when she leaps to attack. :D

It's obvious that arya must have changed her face to be a night walker as that's the only way any of them to could get close to the night king as when snow tried to get close he just awoke more dead warriors.

I would have loved to have seen arya and Jon snow battling the night king together that would have been brilliant to see.

Really, really didn't like virtually the whole episode bar a few random scenes. I realise I'm in the minority but I thought it was difficult to watch, and the night king's death scene was lame....

Have watched it again, and yep, load of old shite.  Dreadful, dreadful writing that almost seemed to ruin all of the great storylines in all of the previous series.

Putting aside the fact that it was physically almost unwatchable, there were so many holes it was laughable.  Just because a series is based on fantasy and magic, doesn't mean it should completely suspend logic altogether.

The only potential redeeming feature is that I hope the human politicking and bitching gets ramped up again, because the whole "Winter is Coming" narrative was massively botched last night.

I'm with you completely.  Such a massive let down.

I completely agree with all the criticisms about 'plot armour' and how ridiculous it was that major characters (Brienne! Samwell!) who were completely surrounded were just somehow okay.

Spoiler

It's the one thing that I do find slightly annoying and they seem to do it so often. A character is screwed, like proper screwed, in a situation they couldn't possibly get out of. But you never actually see them die. Ten minutes later, right as rain.

I don't let it get in the way of my enjoyment though. It's proper good telly and although there are things you can find to criticise it, I'm hugely enjoying it.

John Snow being a case in point.  Completely surrounded by newly risen dead, then somehow makes it away unscathed (and unexplained) to pop up somewhere else ten minutes later.

So is it "Summer is Coming" now?

Sound a bit too much like a porno...

Spoiler

I've seen the sequel.  Summer is coming twice.
