Dodgyknees
Just arrived Southampton. Few of their fans already milling about looking super confident. Beer time soon. I'm meeting up with one of them. Joy.
MackHaakon
I've been really impressed with Southampton so far. Not because of results - as any team can hit a vein of luck particularly at the start of the season - but because of how they play. Fluid, flowing passing with lots of flair and high tempo. Also, their high pressure has been very effective from what I've seen. They will probably control about 60% of possession and I'm guessing outcreate, outshoot and outscore us. 3-0 saints

Daniel
Can't see them losing 3 games in a row. I'd be glad with a point though.

PaulC
5 in the middle is something I've wanted to see for a long time. We may actually be able to get some width into the team. Personally, I'd be very pleased if we went with the usual suspects in defense, with a 5 man midfield of (L to R) Tonev, Westwood, Delph, KEA, Weimann and Gabby uptop on his own. Yes I'd like to see Weimann and Gabby up front. Get in behind them! Kozak is willing runner but he hasn't got the pace.Still doubtful that Lambert will drop Benteke though! sonic_bouma
It's very likely we will get diddly squat in this game Southampton are very good at home and our away form is gradually going the way of our home form Most of their team would go straight into our starting eleven Would never have thought I'd be saying that a few years ago

Zatman
If Southampton attack us then we have a great chance of a result tonight, jsut cant make the same start as we did at Hawthorns
poitier
I really think we will win this one. Southampton are a good footballing team, but not that good, the game should play to our strengths. 1-2 to us.

villaglint
So HH is Culverhouse and Bose is Lambert. Glad that's been settled. Care to explain your thinking behind Tonev at left mid/wing back. Looks like a busy evening for Delph to me!
Dodgyknees
Pretty busy in Southampton, but only seen one other Villa fan (in the Standing Order). Too excited...very nervous...
SikhInTrinity
It was definitely 3-4-3 vs WBA, Delph was playing LWB.
samjp26
Very attack minded team and dropping Benteke will be questioned by many, but maybe it could work. 3 defenders looks weak on paper but with Bacuna being able to put in a defensive shift and Tonev also tracking back a lot from what I have seen, it could give us the fluidity to break fast but also be able to defend still. Guess we'll see, either way it is dangerous and most of the press will probably think we're playing 4-4-2 or 4-5-1.
