GENTLEMAN
James Tarkowski from Oldham would be a good signing for the future.
foreveryoung
James Tarkowski from Oldham would be a good signing for the future. Sorry gentleman im begining to doubt your opinions. Signing players which are good for the future is a complete no no. Most of the players we have are supposed to be good for the future. Bowery was supposed to be good for the future. No more please no more, id rather count on our acadamy for the future. We need players for now, who can fit straight into the squad and make a difference.
sonic_bouma
Heitinga on loan would be alright. I know he's not a world beater but could be solid enough with Vlaar rather than the two clowns. Lets test UTD with a loan bid for Zaha and add him to Hoolahan. Heitinga ,Zaha and Hoolahan would be an alright window Defour is still very unlikely for me. Edited January 5, 2014 by sonic_bouma

Tarkowski is a quality young player and has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool recently. However, I totally understand why people will prefer experience players to be signed and our own youngsters to be promoted, I do not disagree. Nevertheless, James Tarkowski would be a quality acquisition for the club. Edited January 5, 2014 by GENTLEMAN
foreveryoung
Apparently Zaha's salary scared the life out of lambert. Could'nt believe a 21 year old could be on more than 5k a week.

VillaChris
I watched Paterson a lot at Walsall,,,don't think he's quite ready for the premier league yet. Been in and out of the forest team and the hattrick today was actually the first goals he's scored for Forest. Maybe in 18 months although Forest could go up this year. Electric Avenue
We could do with a couple of quality players in this week to lift the spirits of everyone at the club and us fans.
jacketspuds
We could do with a couple of quality players in this week to lift the spirits of everyone at the club and us fans. This. We have some very tough games coming up so anything we can do to give the squad a lift will be very helpful, and necessary.
Nabby
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2533880/Wayne-Rooney-latest-Chelsea-squeeze-Manchester-United-Arsenal-want-striker-Joleon-Lescott-West-Ham-The-Football-Grapevine.html The transfer window has opened and several Premier League clubs will have to tread carefully despite a need to bolster squads, so they don’t fall foul of the new financial regulations that kick in this season. The Premier League have imposed a new set of criteria to prevent clubs blowing all the increased TV revenue that came in at the start of the season on players wages. The basic idea which divided many clubs until the rule was that clubs don’t spend more than they bring in. These are the rules of the Short Term Cost Control Measure. Clubs are restricted in terms of the amount of increased PL Central Funds that can be used to increase current player wage costs. The restrictions are: 2013/14: £4m per club 2014/15: £8m per club 2015/16: £12m per club Clubs can therefore retain a significant amount of Premier League central funds either to improve balance sheets, profitability and/or invest in other areas of the club. They are free to spend additional amounts on player wage costs provided that these are funded by increases in turnover generated from sources other than Premier League central funds. This will prevent the experience of previous rights cycles where the majority or substantial proportion of the increase in Premier League central funds has been spent on increased wage costs. The short term cost control measure applies only to clubs with a player wage bill in excess of £52m in 2013/14, £56m in 2014/15 and £60m in 2015/16. No doubt many clubs will have accountants busy on the case to work around the rules or find loopholes. But if clubs are found to be in breach of guidelines then they would face severe penalties ranging from big fines or even the possibility of significant points deductions. Something that is probably an issue to us and why FFP is an issue
VillaChris
It can help....I remember the night we signed Bent and I was buzzing, it was like we'd won the cup final, same when we signed Carew. We're had a poor 6 months but with Bent signed and Young and Downing still at the club, it felt like we were moving in the right direction again. And we did beat Man. City at home a few days later in the league so it did have a good short term effect at least even if it was a false dawn. That same window we signed Makoun and Bradley, two other signings I was excited about. No idea how Makoun is doing back in France but Bradley would walk into our midfield currently and he was unlucky here for various reasons. Since that window 3 years ago we've gone back to signing average players on long term deals and unknowns and cheap punts from lower leagues/abroad. January 2011 was the last time we showed any proper ambition in transfer deals really, at least ones to get fans excited with quality players coming in. Just remembered Kyle Walker signed in that window aswell so shows you can attract decent players in January if you pay more than a fiver a week and look properly. fightoffyour Posted January 5, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2014 Still an increase of £4m or £80k per week in the year, if our wage bill is actually over £52m, which I doubt.
