Richard
Stick em here, the non-sourced speculation etc. Kick it off with your predictions of spend / numbers / areas to strengthen etc? Do we need that creative midfielder or will we sign another central defender?
Mantis
I'd like to see us sign a cheap, young CB prospect. 4 naturals CBs is enough for the season but not when one of them is injured for all of it.
Moderator BOF Posted November 11, 2013 Moderator Share Posted November 11, 2013 I predict that we'll get our almost-mythical creative attacking midfielder, but that he'll cost neither an arm nor a leg.

We honestly don't need one, Donacien is a great prospect.
Raymond
I predict there will be an awful lot of upset posters in this thread on February 1st, regardless of if we sign anyone or not.

Shillzz
We'll sign one player who doesn't really fit a position of need Yup, perhaps another left back, or a battling but ultimately limited midfielder.
villa-revolution
Whether we sign anyone in January or not I am always filled with awe & expectancy by the potential diamonds Lambo will unearth in the transfer window. Benteke, Bacuna, Sylla, Okore to name just a few. How does lambo do it? As things stand at present an attacking midfielder is a must along with a further aquisition at Centre Back to cover Okore's long term absence. Drool on with the speculation. On the downside I'm sure everybody can expect media speculation again regarding Benteke though I fully expect him to stay until just after the 2014 World Cup. On this one, the subsequent speculation & destabilising effect is not for the faint hearted & January will be a long month. The good news on the beast. I forecast the speculation will prove unfounded.
Mattyp_avfc
I'd say we will go for a Attacking Mid, a Center Half (Pontus Jansson maybe?) and maybe a winger (Depends if Lambert see Bacuna as a CM or a Winger..)
Avfc96
I'm sure I read that Lambert had said not to expect any big signings in January. Would expect similar business to last year tbh, a player in on loan and maybe 1 transfer with a relatively low fee.

Shillzz
The need for an attacking midfielder is no more evident now than it was in the summer, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we don't go for one.
R.I.C.O.
We desperately need a player who can unlock defenses through the middle, but I don't think we will bring in anyone.
philwhitters
Should try and get Sterling and/or Oxlade-Chamberlain in on loan (I know we don't like them) and point to the development of Kyle Walker. Take the pressure off (or put it on, depending how you view it) Weimann & Agbonlahor. If there is money available then the attacking/creative player would be lovely. Robbie09
I suspect any new signings will be under 24 years old.

Shillzz
AM in the Summer, another CB in Jan Unless it's a loan, I don't really see the point in signing another CB. Vlaar, Clark and Baker are all improving, while we also have the promising Okore to come back at some point.

Popular Post Spoony
We are going to sign a 20-23 year old who plays for a team that we think we might have played once in a friendly on Football Manager. This player is going to cost £800k-1.2m but it will be reported at about £4m. He'll improve our team and will prove the doubters wrong (he will inevitably be doubted from the start because the fans of Team We Might Have Played Once In A Friendly On Football Manager F.C. said that he only played on-and-off for them and was only ever average at best). The following will be said about him: "He isn't what we need. We need a quality attacking midfielder" "I don't understand why we signed him? He's like Jordan Bowery" "Who's Jordan Bowery?" "I have complete faith in what Lambert is trying to do here. All you who criticise this signing aren't real fans etc" "Here's a YouTube compilation. He looks good to me" "He doesn't have a beard, so what's the point." "We could have put this money towards Hiroshi Kiyotake" "Seriously guys, who's Jordan Bowery?
