  1. I couldn't agree more. We stood still for an age to watch in a mixture of silence, awe, and appreciation for the moment. Incredibly lucky. The rain had stopped and there was still a good amount of light. We were far enough away from civilization so there was no ambient noise. It really couldn't have been better.
  2. I use a free app on my android phone for YouTube, and it blocks all adverts. "Free Adblocker Browser" is the name of the app. Works really well.
  3. Some of you may think this is for the boring thread... Went for a long walk at dusk yesterday evening with a mate around the country lanes where I live. A passing motorist stopped as they approached us and let us know there's a barn owl flying around in the field a little bit further on. We got there, and the majestic bugger was flying in a loop around the field, stopped to hover for a short time, then dropped to about a half a metre off the ground. Then all of a sudden, dived and picked up a mouse. I've seen barn owls before, but I'd never seen one hunt. Very special sight, when we got to the pub a couple of hours later we were still talking about it.
  4. Sorry to make your spectacularly unpopular opinion a little bit more popular, but I'm in full agreement with you. I have a sixth sense for them in food, I'll know they're there and then the food goes straight in the bin. Absolute worst of the worst.
  5. I can't believe we've got him. This is a top caliber signing. The kind of player the truly elite clubs sign. I love Aston Villa. What a club.
  6. I'll probably get pelters for this, but I think that the fee for Rice is probably about right. Before Jack moved to City we were all very insistent that they'd have to pay big money for him. Jack's value was relative to us, and not what other clubs thought he should be valued at. I doubt if any Villa fan at the time thought he was worth less than £100m, in fact I'd argue he was worth more. Same is true for Rice, and his importance and value to West Ham. They won't replace him with a player of similar quality, just like we didn't with Jack. I do agree that it's a lot of money for Rice, but I do understand why the figure is so high. I think it says more about the amount of money in football rather than the perceived value of the player. It's obscene in the world we currently live in. I also think the Enzo Fernandez transfer set a precedent for the defensive midfielder roll, much like the fees paid for cb's like Maguire and Van Dijk.
  7. Useful little video explaining the intent of the Saudi League/PIF I was very shocked (read not shocked at all) to learn that local players often don't get paid.
  8. At least there's one chap saying no. https://www.instagram.com/p/CtjrAgpMAK_/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=70d91b64-fd9b-4b1f-8fd3-1246435c7712&ig_mid=71D9BCD6-0CE8-4121-9E36-EBD035A2B435 ... At least until Madrid don't want him at the end of next season.
  9. Some kind soul has just given me their pay and display ticket, with an hour and a half left. Love these kind of pay it forwards things.
  10. It's totally real, I snipped it from their main sports page. At least all you now need to be a big club is to be owned by journo killing, sportswashing, oil rich, filth.
  11. TBF Tamworth have just won the league. A Southgate side will never do that.
  12. You just know he's going to play two holding midfielders against the might of Malta and North Macedonia. And the fullbacks will only be permitted over the halfway line twice in the entire game. Dull and uninspiring.
  13. No, I'd be too busy crapping myself I'd be caught out, sacked, taken to court, and finally imprisoned.
  14. I understand that there's no reason or precedent for this, but morally and ethically the Tories should go to the country in my opinion. They're a complete mess.
  15. There's got to be a general election now. The Tory infighting is only going to get worse, and you can bet your bottom dollar Johnson will go full scorched earth to get back at Sunak and anyone remotely against him. Sunak is going to be more concerned with fighting Bunter than talking with striking doctors, sorting the cost of living crisis etc... People have had enough and want a fresh start.
  16. PSG have signed him for the social media side of it. The South Koreans will be all over the merchandise and the follows. They're losing Mbappe, and have already lost Messi. Sportswashing in action baby.
  17. If he takes Carragher with him to be his assistant I'd forgive and forget everything he did here.
  18. Just playing devil's advocate, as I think City are the definition of cheating, but have they been forced into cheating? With FFP lifting the drawbridge to the elite level, how else could they have got to the level they are? I want Villa to get there too, bit we'll never in be in the market for players at the top clubs unless we develop them ourselves. I'm not saying we should cheat, but rather I don't know how to close the gap. The money the regular sky 6 get from Europe, consistently higher league finishes, and much greater sponsorship, just increases the gap between them and everyone else. I personally think clubs should be able to spend what they like so long as the debt is leveraged against the owners, rather than the clubs.
  19. I hate that City are here, but my 11 year old son is really excited for this game, for him it's like an FA cup final game in the 90s for me. He's been watching coverage on and off all day. Sadly, I expect this will be how younger fans will react as standard. He's looking forward to seeing all these top players on the grandest stage. He does not care about the financial side of it one iota. I've tried talking to him about it but it either goes over his head or he doesn't believe it because sky don't talk about it.
  20. Tony and his fat mate, Keith Wyness. Absolutely the worst people involved in the business side of the club. Doug was bad, but he wasn't inept. On the playing side, Charles N'Zogbia ranks high on the worst list, with notable mentions of Lescott, Richards, and The Snake in recent years. Then before that it's Dwight. I totally and utterly agreed with John Gregory. He did us dirty.
  21. .I too get this, but it's caused by anxiety and stress. When I sleep I grind my jaw because of them, and it causes aches, pains, and tinnitus in my ears.
  22. Took the kids to see across the spider-verse today. As the poster above states, excellent film. Gives lots of service to the fanboys like me, whilst still being an outstanding film for the casual fan. The animation was truly incredible. I've never seen a film like it. They took what they did in the first and absolutely took it to the next level and then some. There's a lot of heart in there too, and without posting spoilers, it leaves you wanting much, much, more.
