  1. I'm too young to have ever watched him play live, but from the way he's so revered and footage of him I have seen, I think we may have just lost the greatest English player we've seen. True great, and football grows more soulless for every legend like him we lose.
  2. Bring Boris back! He's an election winner and got Brexit done. (In case of doubt, I don't mean it and know he's banned from parliament)
  3. Not sure of result time but sky news is dedicating air time to the by-elections from midnight.
  4. There's been plenty of canvassing by labour in Tamworth for the last few days, they've really ramped up the amount of literature coming through the mailbox. Even had them knock my door twice today asking for my voting intention. My wife went nuts at the second one, she felt they were being rude asking. I can't see them losing given the very recent news about the Tory candidate.
  5. My sister in law was in the same class as Colleen at school, lived round the corner from her, and she said that when he was young Wayne chased her for years and Colleen would always knock him back, at least until he became famous. She was the polar opposite of him. I think there's a reason why's she's hung around for all this time.
  6. I think the best bit about committing to building so many more houses was that Keir promised new towns. I'm not a nimby, but all new houses built under Tory rule have been hitting communities terribly. The new builds are being built in towns and cities where local services are already decimated. GP's, hospitals, schools etc haven't been able to cope with the influx of greater numbers of people. There's been no investment in them. New towns means new services and a reduction in numbers using existing services. I'm willing to give up some greenbelt for that.
  7. I truly agree with the sentiment, but if I threw the "you cheated" line at her I'd be a eunuch in seconds. I'd agreed to move past it, so I can't do that now. I mentioned this to someone else on here in the past though, the thought of what she did never really goes away and forgiveness is a daily struggle. Also, I'd just like to take this chance to thank everyone for responding. It makes a bigger difference than you know.
  8. They'll only fill that if they draw us in the cup. Their ground is half closed off and there's still empty seats.
  9. Not until we upgrade our exchanges. They're light years behind the US.
  10. I wish my wife had told me before how much it was upsetting her before it got this far. I probably should have read the signals far better, and that's also something I need to improve. I always thought of myself as a good husband who tries really hard though. I've got a lot of self-reflection to do, as I'm obviously very wrong.
  11. I wish I shared your optimism. After what's happened in Israel this week, the right leaning Tory papers are already stating that Starmer was a Corbyn supporter in 2019, and then suggesting Corbyn is supportive of the actions Hamas took against the Israeli's. The link they suggest is fairly obvious. We're going to have stories and smears like this until the next election, and we know that parts of the public quite happily buy into it. I read one column today that suggested that the anti-Semites in the party never went away; they were just being quiet. Again, people believe this BS, and it never seems to be challenged.
  12. Just a follow up on my previous posts. My wife and I had a tearful conversation when I came out of hospital last week, but the main thing is we're ok. She asked for the divorce because of how she thinks I don't respect her enough, but whilst I was in hospital it put things in perspective. No divorce. There are things I definitely need to work on though. I've always used my grandad as a big inspiration, he was my hero. I always remember him playfully teasing my grandma. Never nasty, never trying to cause harm, but just a childish teasing like asking where his tea was. He never, ever, meant it. I do the same, and for years my wife has put up with it and has had enough. There's also irony in it as I cook 90% of the time. She also cited my sense of humour as big issue, as I try to mask bad situations with humour, including things that affect her. She said she never feels supported because if it, which I understand. Regarding the illness, the problem is with my liver, not my head. Currently waiting for liver screen blood results, along with a test for different flavours of hepatitis amongst other things. Should know by the end of the week. Had every test imaginable, full body MRI, loads of CT scans, ultrasound of my liver, x-rays, and a lumbar puncture. That was the most painful experience ever. I do not recommend one. I was let out of hospital when my spiking temp finally came down and remained stable. However my blood test levels for my liver at the last count were 12 times above the normal level. I very rarely drink, but I have been on prescribed drugs that affect my liver for over 12 years, so I suspect that's the cause. Also been referred as an emergency outpatient to a liver specialist, appointment in 8 weeks.
  13. This is going to be like when they brought Zola in and tumbled down the league. Fantastic.
  14. The audience figures prove it, Collision is dying already. Rumours are that Punk is in talks with WWE. That'll move the needle for WWE again. WWE don't care about AEW anymore; they wouldn't be releasing so much talent if they did. Expect a Rise and Fall of AEW DVD in a couple of years (Only half serious)
  15. Football commentary and opinion is nowhere near as informed and insightful as it once was. People don't have the attention span for it. They want to know how long Jack Grealish was on the lash for, rather than how Pep has affected his game since joining. It seems ok for men to do this, rather than women. They seem to get a lot more criticism for it. Personally, I find Michelle Owen and Melissa Reddy two of the most knowledgeable people currently employed to discuss football. I can't stand all the morons covering the PL on Sky. They get worse every year. Soundbite, cliche, advert, and repeat. BT sport used to be brilliant on CL nights when they had the journo's covering all the games. I used to love Sunday Supplement too, and some of the women reporters knocked spots off the men. They had to know more than their male colleagues just to be taken seriously. I also think there's a lot of men who just don't like being informed by women, it threatens their masculinity.
  16. It shows me that there are no clearly defined processes that are applied to similar situations. It should be the same process each time for determining an offside, as there should be a set process for determining when to upgrade a yellow to a red and so on. But it's all left to the interpretation of the person in the chair. Which is why it is open to questions of corruption and/or bias.
  17. They've never appointed a "footballing" person with a history of success at the top. They keep changing manager, forcing them to change players to suit the new managers needs. They're like Everton but with money. They'll never get it right until they get rid of all the playing deadwood, the obvious toxic culture, and put a system in place that goes right through the club, and then recruit managers who fit the system. We're doing that now, and luckily it's worked much quicker than anyone anticipated. Even Man City have worked this way when they starting nicking all the Spanish back room staff (admittedly the ffp breaches have gone a long way too). They're only as high as they are because of how much money they've spent. If they do get it right they'll be guaranteed top 4 every year.
  18. I understand why you'd think that. I just love her with all heart and soul, it's not that easy for me. My plan, once I get home, is to speak to her definitively to get an answer. It's like living in purgatory. This week has shown me not knowing about what's going on is so much worse than knowing the truth, no matter how bad.
  19. I've got a very mild fatty liver, but this would not cause the symptoms I have I've been told. They said it's really common in people with auto immune issues. They said they think it might be caused by an infection, which is why they're leaning towards encephalitis or meningitis. I'm on a ward waiting for more tests.
  20. I'm 42, and my diet is not too bad during the week, but on a weekend it's awful. We enjoy a takeaway with the kids on a Saturday, and I always make a Sunday roast, but it's in no way good for you. I even roast the carrots in honey I suspect the issue with my liver is more related to all the corticosteroids and strong meds I use to control my health condition. I'm probably more worried than I should be because the gent in the bed to my left has liver cancer.
  21. For all those of you wished me luck today, I really appreciated it. Turns out not a brain tumour, but rather a virus that's caused huge issues. I'm due a lumber puncture tomorrow to check for encephalitis and meningitis. My liver is awful too. The blood tests showed my liver is in a really bad state. Weird, because for the last 7-8 years I've had very little to drink. I've probably had 12 units all year. Had a lovely day having MRI and CT scans, blood tests, ECG's and morphine.
  22. Not trying to push this on you, but I'd recommend a company called whysup. All over social media, specialising in mental health and addiction. I attended a meeting with their MD, who really was the man who had it all, humble beginnings, but was so utterly depressed he became such a risk to himself via drink, drugs, and gambling that he was sectioned. He didn't realise he'd got into this state. He was sectioned further times because he thought nobody noticed and he could handle it and neither statement was close to the truth. There's obviously much more to it than this, and after being sectioned further times and nearly losing his life, wife, and family he eventually turned it around. All of the changes were first mental changes, but he's recognised some of these and shares his journey to positivity, analysing different steps along the way. You may get something from the videos or not, but it may help. You may in turn share this with somebody you thinks needs some kind of help. (I do not work for them, just had a really great group session with the MD)
  23. She doesn't let me do that anymore, Farmer Giles. Fair one really.
