  1. Donnarumma just made an unbelievable save for PSG. Corner, header down at the back post, looked like the ball had passed him, then he dived and scooped it out from his right. Almost Banks like.
  2. Might work for the Spanish clubs as a way to generate more cash as Real and Barca get to negotiate their own TV rights, diminishing what's available to the other clubs. If the non-regular Champs league clubs in England did it it might also help some way in reducing the windfall of Champions league cash that isn't shared fairly. It won't happen though, it'll be the sky 6 clubs all the time. Greed in football will end up pushing away the fans, and you'll have 45k-60k tourists turning up to watch a game. There'll be no atmosphere and too many selfie sticks.
  3. That's the point I was making. The human element of VAR is so inconsistent. Until this is removed we should automate what we can, but VAR should be stopped until it can be applied evenly and consistently.
  4. The issue here really isn't that the decisions were wrong, it's the inconsistency of the decisions. As reflected in most posts on every football forum, sometimes these are given and sometimes they're not. It's like going to court for speeding when there's video evidence and 5 people getting fined and 3 points on their license and 5 people not getting punished. The 5 people getting away with it aren't going to complain, yet the 5 people getting punished are angry, and then when they appeal it they get another fine on top. You'd be livid if it was you. Until there's consistency in the application of the rules we're going to go round and round never getting a solution. Ultimately VAR should be removed until then, and we use automated technology for offside and the ball crossing the line. If the match officials get the decision wrong because of human error in real time you may be upset, but you could also understand it. That's the way the game had been played for years and years and it was ok with me.
  5. He just won't pick them. He'll call up Stones, Maguire, Dunk, Gomez, and Guehi ahead of Konsa. Toney and Rashford will go before Ollie. He has his favourites no matter form or squad status.
  6. Talkshite, Sky Sports, Tw@tter journo's. Stick that in your pipe and and smoke it. How do you like these apples?
  7. Everyone wetting the bed! Let's not worry about things we can't control and enjoy what we have. Don Unai is here. He's not said he wants to challenge himself at another club. Lets also look at the facts; 1. He left Sevilla for PSG. I don't think he'd have left Sevilla for many other clubs. PSG were on the rise then with an unlimited budget. Arguably he'd taken Sevilla as far as anybody could in the modern game. 2. PSG threw him under the bus. He won the domestic trophies yet they still sacked him. I don't imagine he looks back at working for them very fondly. 3. He joined Arsenal after Wenger who also threw him under a bus. He was cruelly mocked by all yet was exceptional given the budget and players he had. 4. At Villarreal he turned down Newcastle. He joined us because we've given him the chance to build the club in his image, his way. 5. We're supporting him in all aspects. He's got the management, coaching, and scouting team he wants. The club is growing, and getting more successful.
  8. Just got the Google Pixel 8 with unlimited calls and SMS, 5G, and 300GB data for £21 a month with iD (three network). I've always been android, but this phone is great. So easy to use. I know it's been out since October last year, but one of the reasons I went for this is that they're supporting the release of Android it's on for 7 years. The rear camera is awesome, and the AI features are actually really quite useful. Just thought I'd mention in case anyone is looking. I was with 3 previously and had a Huawei P40 Pro. I've been a SIM only customer for a while but they've been putting prices up continually. The cost of the new phone and package is only £8 a month more than what 3 want to charge me for a SIM only with 50GB of data a month.
  9. Thinking more about Forest's X/Twitter statement, and it's been universally condemned by pretty much everyone, me included. Just thinking on it further, I thought what else can they do except go over the top? Managers making statements about poorly implemented and reviewed VAR only leads to fines. Sky Sports/the media commenting on it changes nothing. Fans slamming it doesn't seem to bother PGMOL or the FA. What immediate recourse is there? Gary Neville said yesterday that you have to accept things like this because it's the nature of sport. That's utter rubbish. We all have eyes, the decisions do seem to more frequently favour the bigger teams. VAR needs to be immediately removed, or we find ways to remove the human element from it, as that's where the problem is. It's not that it's not fit for purpose, it's that it's demonstrably and repeatably unfair. And nothing changes. The more I think on it the more I'm please Forest said what they did. They may have been incorrect to say the official was biased, but they're bang on to question VAR given what's happened to them time and again. It's the biggest headline off the back of a good weekend of sport.
  10. In light of the TV show, I've picked up Fallout 4 again as I only played it through once a few years ago. NV and 3 I'd played to death. Is anyone else playing 4 currently and finding it buggy as hell? I'm playing on Series X, and whenever I'm in the built up congested areas it's a total lottery as to whether it'll lock-up when I go into VATS. Have to completely close and re-load. I've read a few people are having the issue when they install all the DLC, but I want to play that as I didn't first time around.
  11. I understand where you're coming from, I agree that it was unprofessional that Emi went to the extremes he did. The result and the team is more important than settling a score. I just think where we differ is that what he did was more understandable than what Anthony did. Emi had been abused all game. It's not as if Coventry have targeted Anthony because of his behavior in a previous game or incident.
  12. There's a fine line I think. The dancing and celebrating was ok with me; Emi had been getting all sorts of abuse continually throughout the game. It was also a bad idea to have the penalties in front of the Lille ultras given how they'd behaved too. Emi was also celebrating getting to a Euro semi final. Anthony was giving stick to Cov fans who haven't played on this stage for a long while (FA Cup semi final, not Wembley) and may never get here again given the nature of modern football. Anthony didn't play particularly well either, so that sticks in the throat. Emi saved two penalties to put us through.
  13. I think it's fair to say that penalties have been given this season for similar incidents that were far less clear in all three flashpoints. I get why they're annoyed. It's about consistency, and there are regular complaints on here about some teams getting favourable decisions more frequently. VAR would have given all 3 of those to Liverpool, for example. Statement was beyond stupid though. FA will make an example of them as they're not a sky 6 club.
  14. I think we know that he won't be picked, but if any other manager were taking 4 CB's right now he'd be one of them. He's been tremendous for a very long while, and today was another top performance.
  15. If Konsa doesn't go to the Euros it'll be a travesty. Immense today, completely flawless.
  16. We can play a lot better, not sure they can. Good to see SJM and Tielemans getting more involved towards the end. I want to see more of that. Konsa and Bailey have been great.
  17. Quite a few haven't done well this half. Anonymous midfield, Diaby weak, and Cash has been awful. Unai to get into them at HT.
  18. Another procession. F1 must be losing viewers whilst it's so predictable. There's absolutely no spectacle. Chuffed for Lando though, he was fantastic.
  19. If the PL and FA were to provide greater financial packages for the lower leagues then this wouldn't be an issue. If the PL clubs want this then they should have to pay for it. But they already don't want to give them any more money anyway, so this idea is a non-starter. It's the epitome of having their cake and eating it too.
  20. I don't agree with the comments about him not being so good for the second half of the season. His worst run of form has coincided with a positional change to account for the Kamara injury. We all saw his best form when he can play slightly further forward. Whenever Kamara is back, or if we sign a good DM in the summer, I fully expect Dougie's form to improve again. Still a top player, Emery obviously trusts him, and the persistent Arsenal rumours show he must at least be a very decent player. That being said, I do think that Tielemans was signed last summer in case Luiz left, and even if he did leave this summer a midfield 3 of Youri, Kamara, and McGinn is still very good.
  21. I may be jumping the gun, but at the end of this evening's football we're going to be the only English club still in a European competition. We've come a long way baby.
