  1. i agree, im sat hear trying to rationalise their stupidity.
  2. the idea seems to be that she has been labelled vulnerable and I suspect information was being disclosed about the visits from vulnerable services. My assumption is that the police were concerned that the public would interpret this as to do with other family members, she may be painted as a victim of domestic abuse. Its clear the attention and speculation from the public has been tough on the family and they were attempting to avoid more. Still, its weird that they are allowed to say it.
  3. I think we might need to sell him if a very good club comes calling. If we want to want to progress, we need to buy players that are better than our current position. To do that weve got to be a springboard for their careers as well. If we dig in over someone like Emi and dont allow him to move to a significantly better placed team that gives him the chance of winning the champions league, other players would take notice. Ideal situation is that we can show him the ambition, not just tell him about it.
  4. In this day and age i think the most important thing is to be respected by the team and a good communicator, particularly in a team made of multiple nationalities. You need to be able to talk to a referee and then act as a bridge between officials, management and players on the pitch. Its becoming more important particularly with some of the recent refereeing incidents. Ideally the captain is a midfielder as they are covering most of the pitch.
  5. Im in the same place, is it really that difficult to understand. Gabby and the likes were part of a villa team when i care most about them, i didnt have kids, i didnt have money worries, i really only cared about following Villa every week. At the same time we were much more successful (relatively) than the current team is. We were on the verge of cracking the top 4 and pretty much every where we went we were competitive. Gabby was a local lad, scoring goals, lightening fast, verge of the england squad and ultimately wanted by opposition fans.
  6. I think the Holte definitely has scope for some changes, as our lives change we shouldnt have to compromise on the location we sit in when other things become more important. I now love attending with my son, hes 13. A few years ago i pretty much wouldnt bother as the food was dreadful, he could barely see half the game and the toilet facilities not really great for a young kid. As i get older i probably wont manage to stand for the entire game, why should i have to leave the Holte, cant a bit of it be used for someone a bit older. I havent used the ladies toilets but the stories ive heard wouldnt make me want to either. Imagine being a long term holte ender but an accident or changing circumstances leave you with some sort of disability, you can basically never sit in the Holte again. Doesnt seem right. Maybe this all feels a little woke, not my intention. I just dont think we need to sit in the dark ages. Change is good, make the Holte more available and i suspect the atmosphere, facilities and value for money will improve.
  7. Some of this is a bit of a misconception, not sure they have the traditional investment banking arm so most of these bonus' are to regular employees, thousands of people that work in beaches, answer calls, manage websites and projects. Might feel like a lot of money but it's part of a package when you work in financial services. No real drama here, it's just an organisation that's recorded some large profits and a good chunk is being given back to employees, of course those more senior will do well out it it.
  8. Also though he was fine. Martinez should stay on his line for the second. Hard to blame a guy who's making his first start for god knows how long and playing slightly out of position against the champions.
  9. So hard to compare, Grealish more individually talented but Young proved more effective as part of a team. I think his output was stronger in terms of goals and assists, Grealish probably better at carrying the ball, Young significantly better at set pieces and delivery into the box. Young got to play with better players, Grealish is currently struggling to do that as effectively.
  10. I think similar, its an area weve been so poor in, i dont know if hes great or just so much better than we're used to. Regardless it will take him time, im really happy with his contribution so far and Im not too worried hes about to be snapped up by a top 4 team.
  11. one thing suggested was the statute of limitations. The premier league has none, they can include all evidence and go back as long as they like. The previous investigation was limited to c5 years i believe and excluded a number of contested things.
  12. no its not, but it is an extension of what many would consider fair and it is a test of the rule. The FFP rules at their heart are designed to get football clubs to operate within their means. Clubs are constantly testing the rules that are setup to find way s to inject more money from owners (or affiliated companies). City have pushed that more than others and may now be fined. This maybe a one off or the premier league may start to investigate the loop holes that other clubs have exploited.
  13. Is no one worried this starts a precedent? I don't think villa are really clean tbh, we had the dodgy stadium sale and constantly see now share issues from the owners to pump in cash. Be very careful which punishment you wish for.
  14. I think Leicester targeted him yesterday, they were aware he likes to take the ball from the back 4 and I think we're happy for him to take a first touch and waited for him to dwell on the ball. They pressed him and Luiz very well and that often led to the mistakes. They will learn and come back better players for it.
  15. i think a draw and thats not a terrible result. We struggle against sides that sit and I think Leicester might do that
  16. i agree, were on a great run of form, a run that is probably too good for a club in our position with this squad. It feels very unlikely that we can continue to accumulate points as we have done so Im expecting us to fall away a bit yet.
  17. id quite happily settle for as good as Bailey. neither player comes with a high level of consistency, if they did then arguably theyd be playing for someone a bit higher up the table. When one is struggling, chuck in the other.
  18. A few reasons: Savings account cost banks money. Billions of pounds are stored in savings account and unfortunately the vast majority of those balances are owned by a smaller number of customers. If banks pass on the latest interest rate to all of those billions of pounds, it costs them a lot more so they will typically tread carefully. A higher interest rate on a current account often comes with a limit of how much balance they will pay interest on (typically 20k). This helps to make them appear really attractive but also limits their exposure. On top of that, current accounts are the currency of banks, all banks want to attract current account customers as this typically helps them make more money by being able to market other services. Main reason though, banks want to make money though appear to be doing good things.
  19. and the Bristol City volley, initially I thought that was a mis hit, the more I watched Traore the more convinced I became that it was intentional, no one else would try it.
  20. while he hasnt played competitively, i thought he was at an under 20s Columbia tournament, i assume they were planning on playing him so he must have some level of preperation.
  21. to be honest his game maybe much more suited to Unai, our previous challenge was how little support he gives to Cash but under Emery someone like Traore would be expected to track as much, he will be measured on his final third output. We dont ever see Bailey dropping into that back 6 when were out of possession. Whether its a planned more or not, I like to think that Emery would consider the resources at his disposal and make his own decisions. You cant change a club over night (and definitely not in January as weve just found out).
  22. i use vodafone, i can get enough of a signal for social media, whatsapp etc. Not always consistent but pretty reasonable.
  23. you can see signs of this aleady, Mings, Konsa and Young forming the back 3 when in possession.
