  1. we dont either do we? we sold the stadium and training ground to another company owned by NSWE
  2. For me it depends on the offer. If we can get back what we paid for him id sell. He made a lot of appearances from the bench and id expect those to be much fewer. If we had an injury to Kamara i think Mcginn is now more likely to slot in there.
  3. I think he's a great addition. Without him were bringing in Chambers or a guy who's had a hand full of decent games for qpr. Great squad addition but will be a great sign when we've managed to improve on him as well.
  4. Great scenes from west ham, this is exactly what winning a trophy should feel like. Real emotion.
  5. Challenge is probably the other way round. Lots of money in a pension and working out the most tax efficient way of getting it out. We looked at buying an annuity but they are very poor at the moment. It probably needs him or my mum to live for 20 more years, that doesn't feel that likely unfortunately. If he passes first, my mum may need to pay c40-50% in tax. So many options and all quite complex. I'd prefer he just had the cash to hand should it be needed.
  6. I've no interest in whatsapp banter, i just want people to have freedom to have open conversations without fear that they will become front page news. I don't work in a political environment but I do work in a highly regulated one. I've been part of incidents where we were compelled to make whatsapp messages on personal devices available, it didn't sit right with me and I'm not comfortable with the slow eroding of privacy. My issues are nothing to do with boris, I've heard he's making the messages available, I'm just not comfortable with the precedent, I don't think it'd a good think for any future government.
  7. That's where he started as well. A couple of days a week in a charity shop helping clear homes. They then offered to pay him so they could guarantee his hours a bit more. Was funny as he didn't tell me for ages, knowing I'd moan at him for not taking it easy. I'm sure a part of it is he's spent his life working and he's not used to financial security although he has more than enough money. Not suggesting it's everyone experience, just a perspective I thought worth sharing.
  8. Don't disagree, I'm just debating the benefits of seeing a few messages vs what that may cost in the future. I think people want another stick to beat the tories with, doesn't feel worth it to me when a hundred sticks already exist.
  9. So the choice your making is getting to see a couple of text messages about government contracts at the expense of a future government having the freedom to discuss openly some difficult decisions without fear of those things being used against them.
  10. I don't think the world works face to face anymore. It definitely didn't during the pandemic. My opinion is that a place still needs to exist for conversations that my explore extreme scenarios, those conversations may not be best shown in the public light. That's my concern here, the precedent and the limits it may place on the future development of policy, to be clear im not bothered about who the tories are shagging. Imagine a scenario like Dunkirk and place it in the modern day. You would expect people to explore scenarios that may determine how many lives should be risked to save some. I think politicians and others need the freedom to have those conversations and challenge each other without it becoming public record.
  11. That's what I thought. Maybe it's a generational thing. He's just so used to being around people and feeling useful he didn't want to stop. I think he's also got in his head that my grandad went downhill when he stopped. He's happy and enjoying his partial retirement so maybe he's got it right after all.
  12. I'm quite torn on this. Ignoring everyone's lack of trust for the current tory government I do think it's important that ministers have a private outlet for conversations and this could really harm how those things happen. I fully expect that the government would have had very open conversations about different scenarios during covid and a level of death that is perhaps acceptable for a greater good. Publishing this will just detract from the actual enquiry while journalists queue for a sensation headline and it may limit how these things happen in the future.
  13. I've been sorting my dad's pension recently. He's retired last year having waited until he's 67. He and my mum are mortgage free and live quite comfortably on the state pension. We've taken the tax free limits out of his pension but I doubt he'll spend them. I've look at annuities but the rates are now so low it just doesn't make economic sense. Current plan is to keep the money in a fund, take a small amount out each year and wait until I need to spend it all on one of them going into a home. He's got so bored he's taken a part time job to keep his brain ticking over.
  14. I think the links are founded in some fact. I suspect villa have conversations with lots of people. I'd be surprised if conversations hadn't taken place and I hope they have. It's shows ambition.
  15. I'm glad we're being linked with players that are choosing between us a champions league clubs. It shows were being ambitious enough.
  16. He's Braziliannnnn He only cost £15 millionnnn He dumped Aliesha, we think hes a silly un It's Douggglasss Luizzzz
  17. I think if our future had been known before the last game, i would be inclined to agree. As it stands the last game was only about treating like a final and getting over the line. No distractions and no time for nostalgia. If it becomes a testimonial for Young the pressure is on for him to replace Cash. Maybe you bring a sense of emotion to the day for Young distracting him from the challenge of the last day. For me the club got it right, were not going to talk about anything else and they did that consistently. I think you say it could have been handled differently and that may have given Young a chance of a send off. As it happened he was quite rightly celebrated on the pitch.
  18. I don't see how it's poorly handled. The club were quite consistent that contracts would not be discussed until the end of the season. The same statement was made for Mings, Watkins and the likes or Archer even. They will sit down at the end of the season and decide. At least in Ashleys case they even said it would be decided quickly. It's a brutal business but until the weekend the club didn't know if it was playing European football or not. They didn't know if they wee finishing 7th or 9th which has financial implications. We may not like the outcome but I think the club has been very professional and consistent. Even down to making sure that Ashley was the first to know and nothing leaked in the press.
  19. This is football, I don't think someone has collously said he is not part of our plans. I suspect he had some conditions, pay, playing time, length of contract and the club did not agree on them. If we just didn't want him they would have said and not let it drag out. We simply havent found a compromise.
  20. An amazing season, his best yet (under Unai) and all done without the pressure of the captaincy. I wouldn't change that.
  21. Was great going forwards, brilliant pass for Watkins goal, hit the bar and should have had an assist for Ramsey. Defensively he needs to work harder. Mcginns booking came because he was holding up the play, delaying a free kick while screaming at Bailey to get into position.
  22. Played really well yesterday, I think he combines well with Ramsey and maybe felt more confident knowing his place wasn't under pressure.
  23. you could have imagined villa selling that as a perk. Great news villa fans, We've managed to freeze monthly payments for seasons tickets by making you pay for more months
