Why do they do this? You often pause because you want to look at something on the screen that is now so dark you can't see it even if it isn't obscured by unnecessary graphics. Back in the day a couple of small parallel lines in the top corner of the screen was plenty adequate to indicate a paused video. I have never bought anything from them, but they have a large social media presence so I see their videos, it tends to be favourite albums, tracks, guitarists etc. The guy who fronts it owns a well stocked record shop but his selections are always so bloody pedestrian, it's like his favourite album is the best of the Beatles.
