SikhInTrinity
The problem for Villa has not been letting the players go its effectively who we've replaced them with. We let go Milner, Downing and Young, we replaced them with Ireland, Bent and N'Zogbia. There lies the problem.

kevangrealish
If lambert found Benteke he can find another quality striker Newcastle thought the same, 'Lets get all these french players in like we did the first season. We should get top four then...' Finished below us.

Villastine
He won't leave England and he won't leave us unless one fo the top four come in for him. We should be proactive and try and sign Wilfried Bony either way.
mikeyp102
If lambert found Benteke he can find another quality striker One that the team that can be built around and score enough goals on his own to carry the side? Or use the money to buy 4/5 players meaning that the striker wouldn't necessarily have to be as good to carry the side as others will also be chipping in. Say we managed to get another striker who say scores 12-15 goals and 5 assists. An attacking midfielder who chips in with 7-10 goals and 12 assists. A defensive midfielder and centre back who both manage to shore up our defence and help keep many more clean sheets. Surely these would be more beneficial for the future development of the team as a whole, as it's inevitable that Benteke will go eventually. Obviously it's all hypothetical as at the moment there have been no bids from anyone and it's just paper talk.

I don't think we'll sign a striker who will do as well as him so one you say it's about adding a few players with the money that will strengthen the team enough. CB's 19 goals have been vital, but some more creativity on the pitch will not only make 19 goals easier to get, but also reduce the reliance on any single player. A lock-picker and a dead ball specialist would be fantastic additions with or without Benteke.
danceoftheshamen
Not concerned either way tbh.. If he stays great If not then so be it... As many have said it's silly season now & you can read into those interview transcripts almost anything having now seen the full transcript. I have confidence we will be improving under PL now with or without CB.

Nabby
Lambert from talksport “He’s had one of those seasons where he’s not been injured or suspended, until the last game, and he’s not missed a game or any training. That’s unique,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “He’s only 22-years-old and he needs to remember that he’s got so much to learn. He’s only a kid starting out, he’s going to have ups and downs like everybody else. Once he’s played 300-400 games then you might start to think [he’ll move]. “I don’t mind agents at all, but sometimes you need a bit of a reality check. This kid has only been in Britain for ten months. If somebody wants him now then they will want him in a year’s time. Everyone at Aston Villa loves him. “We’ve been speaking about extending his contract for the last few weeks but he’s still got three years left

SikhInTrinity
Lambert will not be foolish to say he's not going anywhere and then a few weeks down the line he moves, until he speaks face to face with Benteke with Internationals we will know where we stand on the situation. kammy
I've thought about this a little bit and maybe we should let him go. If we get an offer of something close to £30m, we should take it. If he stays, he could have another great season. But I doubt we'd be able to sell him for much more than that price. There is every chance, however, that he won't be as prolific next season. He could hit a loss of form or pick up injuries, and if that happens his value would go down. We are trying to rebuild the team at the moment and having an extra £30m in the kitty would help enormously Lambert could pick up some more cheap gems but also a few highly rated, experienced players, who could really strengthen the side. I love Benteke, he's been great. And if he stays it would be brilliant to see if he can do the business again. But it would have to be viewed as a bit of a risk, and maybe I'd be happier with the money.
