  1. Would be a gamble. He's at a good age, has ability and plenty of experience of the league. If we can sort out his attitude and give him a run of games maybe he could finally fulfill his potential? If he's coming in on a relatively short deal (2-3 yrs rather than 4-5) and isn't on silly money it could be a good move. I know he's not ideal but if he can fill the gap until Kozak and Benteke come back then he will be worth it. If anyone can suggest a better option that would come to us and costs nothing I'd like to hear it.
  2. Dammit Lambert. Sign someone who's rated higher than the low 70s on FIFA please. (Joking. Keep them coming!)
  3. I hope the pink gk kit is to go with the green third kit. That would be a deadly combination.
  4. Really like the home one. Traditional and modern and claret and blue. All boxes ticked. Don't like the away on first impression. Maybe it will grow on me.
  5. I'm getting a bit worried. If we sign all our players now what am I going to do with the rest of the summer?
  6. I bloody love this club at the moment. We're looking at the stars of tomorrow. These players all seem to be exciting and full of potential. If they don't fulfil that potential we haven't shelled out ridiculous sums, but if they do we will have a very good team and players that may earn us big fees if they move on. It's so refreshing after the players that we were bringing in a couple of year ago. THIS is the way to move forward. THIS is the way to the bright future.
  7. Some of those goals show some ridiculous technique! Good feet for a big man etc etc. Love how I'd never heard of this bloke and now I'm really excited at the prospect of him coming! Bent out, this chap in?
  8. Surprised? Not at all. Disappointed? A bit. Think he's the kind of player we could do with. Been a while since we've had flair in the middle of the park.
  9. I've thought about this a little bit and maybe we should let him go. If we get an offer of something close to £30m, we should take it. If he stays, he could have another great season. But I doubt we'd be able to sell him for much more than that price. There is every chance, however, that he won't be as prolific next season. He could hit a loss of form or pick up injuries, and if that happens his value would go down. We are trying to rebuild the team at the moment and having an extra £30m in the kitty would help enormously Lambert could pick up some more cheap gems but also a few highly rated, experienced players, who could really strengthen the side. I love Benteke, he's been great. And if he stays it would be brilliant to see if he can do the business again. But it would have to be viewed as a bit of a risk, and maybe I'd be happier with the money.
  10. We only ever attack one way. Crossing from the fullbacks from deep positions. We had enough of the ball today in City's half to create a number of chances, yet Joe Hart didn't have to make a save.

    Relegation

I think Southampton could be in trouble. They are only 3 points ahead of us and Wigan. Really not starting to like the look of that last game either. If it's all hinging on that game I don't fancy our chances.
  12. No chance we'd keep Benteke if we go down. He kicked up a fuss to make sure he got a move to us because he wanted to play in the Prem. He will do the same in the summer if we go down.
  13. This is exactly my feelings. Lambert has been blasted for getting things wrong tactically and I can't argue with that, but the longer we keep him the more he'll learn what his players are/aren't capable of doing. He will find the best formation in time. He will find the best players to play in each position in time. But he needs to make mistakes along the way. Bringing in a new manager would be going back to square 1.
  14. Didn't know who Troy Deeney was. Looked him up.
  15. What a strange pair of signings. We desperately needed some experience to add to out squad. Sylla and Dawkins might be good players, and I'm not trying to write them off, but this is a hell of a risk. With the club staring relegation in the face we're taking a chance on a pair of youngsters who need to take a very big step up if they're to perform in the Prem. It's better than signing nobody, which is something I was concerned about a day or 2 ago. But only just.
  16. We can definitely sign established players. But only if the wages are high enough and we put a clause in their contract that they can leave when we get relegated.
  17. We could do with concentrating on the league, so a loss could be a blessing in disguise. A clean sheet or a big win would help the team's confidence though, so that could be useful. In short, I don't know if I want Villa to take this seriously or not and as such can't get too excited by the match at all.
  18. Agree with that apart from Holman. Don't think he's on a massive wage, don't think he'd be desperate to leave and think he'd be a decent player in the Championship.
  19. The thought of wee Barry Bannan playing in goal just made me very happy.
  20. Bit of a different situation! He's been frozen out because he won't take a pay cut.
  21. Don't get me wrong, this is an exciting link. But if he can't get into the Inter team is he worth that kind of money? I've never seen him play but surely if he was that good he'd be getting some more game time?
  22. Wouldn't really like to predict the outcome tonight. If we create a good number of chances we could score 3 or 4. It's our defence which has me worried though. Bradford could easily get a goal or 2. Could go either way. Still pretty confident over the 2 legs. Just not so much about tonight!
  23. With a lot of luck there is a route to the final there somewhere. If we get past Norwich we could meet Swansea or Boro. Shame Chelsea and Arsenal weren't drawn together. That really would have helped the rest.
  24. Bit disappointed he felt the need to speak out. It must have been a bit of a bad couple of weeks, to lose the captaincy and then his starting place. But he should have kept his mouth shut. The goal he scored has probably got him back in the team anyway.
