Not sure I'd call 11th worst in the world or 7th if you exclude tiny nations like Andorra, San Marino and a few more "bang average" but sure.

Fwiw there is 209 countries out of 220 on that list who's better off when it comes to deaths per million so maybe a tiny bit below average?

ok, well then in terms of being shit, the US is not especially shit.

BBC News this afternoon were very keen to point out how badly the U.S. was doing.

The most basic maths suggested they were no worse than the UK and probably a little better.

It might change, they might be about to properly spin out of control, but the story was the just plain weird.

It’s only weird because they don’t apply the same analysis to the UK but that is an entirely different thread.

The House Of Representatives has passed a bill to decriminalise cannabis at federal level.

A number of states have already decriminalised. Trump's anti cannabis crew were in and out the revolving door and frankly, the country could do with some help coming down from the opioids it munches down like sweeties.

Big Pharma won't like it, nor will crazy Puritanical types.

What's likely to happen in the Senate then?

They'll ignore it

I've not been following al that closely, but your post seems (at face value) to contain some illogicalities:

If there's no one counting in the small hours, how would anyone know who the votes were for, until they were counted the next day? - a box of ballots turns up from a polling station to a counting station - this is entirely normal and part of the process. Voting ends, take ballot boxes to counting station. They don't all turn up at the same time. I heard that most of the on the day voter were more likely Trump voters, and more postal voter were likely Biden voters. Boxes arriving late would either be that day's ballots, or stored postal votes being moved all at once -  I don't see either shenanigans or incompetence as being the most likely reason at all. It sounds like (and maybe I don't either) the explanation is most people don't understand how the ballot collecting and counting system actually works in practice. I mean they count the "on the day" votes first, then they count the postal votes (because the Republicans made them do it that way). This is why the later arriving boxes would contain more Biden votes.

Every witness I have seen come forward is a kook. It's as though the Republican Party picked some of the most ardent Trumpers (and some of the weirdest) to be their poll watchers. I wonder why?......

A ballot count has fairly strict processes but their partisanship and poor aptitude means they have inferred and dreamed up all sorts of things that they 'think' they saw which are quite easily explained.

Trump’s Georgia rally was supposed to pump up Loeffler and Perdue. It ended up being a grievance-fest.

Trump paid lip service to the importance of voting while at the same time insisting the election was stolen from him.

Outgoing President Donald Trump traveled to Valdosta, Georgia on Saturday for a rally that was ostensibly meant to pump up voters and encourage them to support Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue ahead of next month’s runoff elections. But, perhaps unsurprisingly, Trump ended up having a hard time talking about anything but himself and his grievances.

“We won Georgia, just so you understand,” Trump said, even though his loss in the state has already been certified by Georgia election officials. Trump ended up repeating this lie so many times throughout his speech that by the end of it he was mentioning it in passing as if it’s settled fact.

Despite his insistence that the Georgia Republicans who run the state at best looked the other way while Democrats conspired to steal the election from him, Trump at other points urged his fans to go out and vote for Loeffler and Purdue, saying things like, “If you don’t vote, the socialists and communists win.”

The Georgia rally came hours after Trump reportedly phoned Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and asked him to convene a special session of the legislature to overturn the election results. Kemp reportedly turned Trump down, and perhaps as a result, Trump attacked him a number of times throughout his speech, at one point telling his fans, “Your governor should be ashamed of himself.”

Then, toward the end of the rally, Trump outlined the desperate two-front battle he’s trying to fight to overturn the election, saying “hopefully our legislatures and the United States Supreme Court will step forward and save our country.”

At one point he just stopped and they all watched a video of one of those wacko right wing news networks for about 15 mins.

He literally had a rally with thousands of people in the middle of a pandemic so they could watch fake TV news with him.

Apparently the fact that the rally was supposed to be about the Georgia election campaign for Loeffler and Perdue was lost on him. But as always it's all about and only about him.

I wonder how many of his own supporters have died because if this insistence of not wearing masks.

Look behind him and there seems to be quite a lot of elderly people sat shoulder to shoulder with no masks anywhere. It must be a coronavirus breeding ground.

Doesn't seem like a good business model to encourage your best customers into life threatening situations. The deaths in the US must surely have a Republican skew?
