I don't think this is a serious proposition in the UK, we have it enshrined in legislation rather than case law, and I've not seen anything at all to suspect there's even fringe appetite for this.

There are many parallels between our politics over recent decades, yet despite them having "separate church and state" and us having bishops in the upper chamber and our head of state being the head of the church, we don't have the odious infestation of religion in our politics that they do.

Even Jeremy Hunt is a 24 weeks down to 12 weeks Representative for Wellingborough. The Tory Party have always had a large number of antiabortionists

The other mental thing is that a world superpower in 2022 still decide their rule of law based on a crusty old document written in a completely different time.

If the founders were even a tenth as wise as they're given credit for, they'd be appalled by how they're treated with an almost religious reverence by modern America.

Already banned in Missouri

Quote

Eric Schmitt, the attorney general of Missouri, issued an opinion that activated Missouri’s “trigger” law, effectively ending abortion in the state except for in cases of medical emergencies. Mr. Schmitt said Missouri is the first state in the nation to do so.

5 justices put on the court by 2 presidents who lost the popular vote.

Totally broken system.

Seccession talk was popular amongst the Right last week, now the Left is at it.

We are being ruled over by Christo-fascists.

How long until y'all can invade and institute Democracy in America, guys?

We just need to wait.  It will be completely empty at one point in the future,  well maybe 1 old bloke left with a smoking AR-15 and a misguided sense of achievement,  self awareness and forward thinking.

The handmaid's tale looks more realistic as each year passes.

I'm not sure America will be a democratic country by the time my kids are grown up.

I hate to tell you this, but we (America) aren't a Democratic Country anymore. They have rolled back two major human rights rulings the past few days and Clarence Thomas is already taking aim at contraceptions and gay marriage in his writings.

Hard to comprehend the scale of ineptitude from the Democrats. They had total power from 2008-2010 and could have codified Wade for eternity among many other things they didn't do. Just incredible.

The US is also having an attack on freedom of speech at the moment. An appeals court in Arkansas has ruled that boycotts do not represent free speech and therefore can be discriminated against. This came about because a number of states brought laws to combat the BDS movement (which basically around to boycott Israel) that require entities that wish to undertake state contracts to pledge they do not boycott Israel in any way for the period of the contract. The Arkansas Times wouldn't make that pledge, lost a contract and went to court to decide it. They now will be taking it to the Supreme Court...

FFS America FFS.

Donald Trump doesn't give a **** about abortion or the Bible. But he put who he was told into the white house to try and cement his power. He's going to cause mayhem for the next 30 years, long after he is dead.
