Morpheus
also think Vlaar and KEA will add more than last season now they should be up to speed KEA? Why can't he improve on last season? Has KEA not already shown you why.
KHV
I think KEA struggles when he has little time to make a decision That's a fair point. He did do and was subsequently dropped from the team. Since being given another go towards the end if last season he has looked much better. So perhaps he has adjusted to the pace? Or we can just write him off permanently because of a few shakey performances after a solid start. To be fair none of our midfielders are composed under pressure. They either turn in to trouble or give the ball away cheaply. He is not alone in that department

dont_do_it_doug.
Westwood in particular hardly ever gives the ball away. Delph often runs into trouble, but he's very adept at getting out of it, he's got fantastic close control. I agree with Stefan. Twaddle. Edited August 18, 2013 by dont_do_it_doug. Isa
Our midfield are decent under pressure. It is our defence who aren't really and resort to hoofing it up to Benteke too often for my liking when they are under pressure.
Bunnski
I don't rate him as top class but their is things that I really like about his game. He has a real knack for getting a foot in and winning the ball back in midfield, its probably the best thing about his game atm imo but I agree that when he is in possession he needs too much time on the ball. He has a good pass on him and is a good player to have around
abdulaziz1
He played a very good game .. And its good to have more players who perform good so you could choose from .. Hopefully sylla could make it too tomorrow atleast as a bench ..
Popular Post BOF Posted August 20, 2013 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted August 20, 2013 I must say I feared for his Aston Villa future after last season. He looked like a player who; as technically competent as he was; didn't have the attributes to excel in the Premier League. He looked like he needed too much time to pick a pass. Time that he would never get in the Premier League. However, pre-season made me think 'wait a minute' and credit to Lambert, he didn't throw KEA into the bomb squad. And how often a timely injury to someone else can give you the opportunity you need. Sylla's unfortunate twisted ankle has given KEA the chance to show what he can do competitively and he grabbed it with both hands. Fair play to him and now we hopefully have the player Lambert thought he had acquired last season. Plus having a viable starter like him around the place will spur the other centre mids on to bigger and better things too. Basically it's all good
SikhInTrinity
Thought KEA was like a long distance runner yesterday, the amount of ground covered. He seems physically more up to speed with the game now and think playing in a midfield 3 is helping him.
villaglint
I thought he was good again last night and glad to see he has kicked on from pre season. I think he has realised he doesn't have as much time on the ball as he thought. In Holland his technique would save him from getting caught out. In the premier league with much more physicality he can;t get away with it. It's just getting used to a new style of football which is entirely understandable, took Stan a year too. Whether he is good enough to get us to where we want to be longer term I am not sure but he is definitely good enough to get us where we want to be this year which is progress and mid table/top 10. Panto_Villan
How was his performance yesterday? I saw a lot of people talking about Delph being amazing but not a lot of chat about KEA, and I didn't see much of the game myself. I've always kinda viewed Sylla as the ball-wining midfielder out of the two of them, with KEA being a bit more creative in attack, but people have been talking a lot about KEA's ability to intercept and dispossess the other team. Did he demonstrate that against Chelsea? Edited August 22, 2013 by Panto_Villan
vandaq
I thought KEA had a good game yesterday, he was just overshadowed by delph really. Good performance and it certainly looks like he is getting more used to PL, even though we are only talking about two games. Will be interesting to see how he carries on. packoman
I think I'd still prefer Sylla in the team, but KEA doesn't deserve to lose his place. It's quite nice to have a bit of competition for the midfield spots.
Jarpie
KEA was good and tidy, doesn't seem to really excell in anything per se but does most things well. Though Sylla seems to be more energetic and a bit tougher against opponents than KEA.
bose
Sylla won't get in the team unless one of the three get injured. Competition for places!
AVFCforever1991
Liking the competiton for places, it's a nice option and good dilemma for Lambert.
Amo69
with our pressing style - midfield in particular they are going to need to be rotated. If anything we could do with signing one more player for that position.
