What Album Are You Listening To Right Now?

I bought this yesterday... though I'm currently streaming it in work not playing the vinyl. It's a remix album and again just like the Kruangbin one, I'm more interested in the remix album than the originals, it's the third such album I've biought this month (which is a little odd in itself)

I first became aware of this artist as a result of Burn On - Mogwai Rework which is S1,T1 on this album. I listened to the original albums and wasn't much interested as I recall, then I heard Carry Me - Cosey Fanni Tutti Rework (S1,T2) and again liked the remix. So yeaterday i Bought this because it was only £13.50, had it been full price I probably wouldn't have bothered but now having played it a couple of times I probably would. Its all very ambient / post rocky type stuff, its great for working to in the office or a chill late night album.

Tiny Changes - a Celebration of Frightened Rabbit's Midnight Organ Fight.

Like all cover albums it's all over the shop, but the fundamental strength of the original songs carries it, even where they quite heavily change them - Daughter turned Poke into a dance track, Biffy Clyro (who I've not heard a note by in what most be a decade before this) turn the Modern Leper into a much heavier tune.

Although it's a celebration of the seminal album, inevitably it's also a tribute to Scott Hutchison, song writer and singer for Frightened Rabbit, who killed himself last year. Midnight Organ Fight is an exceptionally personal album, recording his thoughts after an extremely painful breakup (that he never got over), and with that the songs have that extra weight to them that there's genuine emotion behind it. This is especially true of Floating in the Forth, a song about suicide that is particularly painful given how Scott died.

Been looking forward to giving this album a listen (if that's the right phrasing, given the context).

Pointless trivia: I accidentally twatted Harkin in the mouth with her own microphone one time.  Fortunately she is as forgiving as she is talented.

Is that Katie Harkin ? If so, yeah.

The same. Was heavy into her old band Sky Larkin back when they'd just started out by virtue of spending most of the mid-00's listening to ¡Forward, Russia!-adjacent stuff and pretty much anything that was coming out of the Leeds music scene at the time.

Ah, I miss Sky Larkin. They were great.

Indeed.

Then again...can you imagine how RICH Jeff Lynne is?

And then add up all the cash he's put into small heath. Zero as far as I know.

I think I'll let him off in this case ;)

He's rich, but he's not stupid.

Carwyn Ellis,

He played at someone I was at schools with's 50th Birthday party a few years back (she's a big fan), so I looked him up and I've heard a few tracks on Marc Riley from new that album, it just doesn't click with me but I can't say why. But then I really like Bill Ryder-Jones which is kinda in a similar ball park, It'sone of those musical impoderables, why you like one thing but don't like something else which is in similar territory,
