Again though, Ancelotti got this lot to finish in the top 10. The only significant weakening in the squad since last season is James leaving (who missed most of the second half of the season anyway) and a bit-part player not playing because of a criminal allegation. Then they bizarrely sold their best left-back, but that didn't happen until January.

We *know* that most of these players have the potential to finish in mid-table. That they are nowhere near that has to be largely down to the guy in charge for the majority of their games this season.

Calvert Lewin has missed about 20 games this season, Allan only wanted to play for Carlo like James so isnt really trying.

Everton have an old squad and an incredibly shit defence, signing over the hill rejects from the top 6 has failed for them in the last 8 years and it still an issue. The back four this season has been mainly Coleman Keane Godfrey and Holgate.  That is midtable Championship quality defence if I am being generous and Rafa was given 2 million to spend in the summer

Rafa isnt the answer but for Everton problems he is way down the list of people to blame and so is Lampard. On the Digne incident as well Rafa wanted him gone thats fair enough managers have opinions but why sell Digne then sack Rafa a week later. Clown club in the boardroom

I'm confident we'll beat them at home but yeah 1-0 loss at Turf Moor in similar fashion to Newcastle away feels inevitable.

BTW is there some unwritten law we can't play them until May or something? This week we are seeing Brighton-Spurs on Weds and then Everton-Newcastle on Thursday which was originally going to be over xmas period.

Surely premier league could've inserted our game on the Weds as seems bizarre to me we're having to wait ages to play it when other lost fixtures over that period are being played.

Could've been a nice little confidence booster to go into Arsenal game. Perhaps we'll play it between the Liverpool and Spurs home games in April.

We played one of our lost Christmas fixtures in the Leeds game.

Just had it pop up in my football WhatsApp group

I'm guessing that's closed off for discussions until the weekend, the gutter rags will be all over that

Saw a rumour last night about one of them, didn't play at weekend and mentioned above and he was due in court this week for something.

Edit: plenty of talk about it on the grandoldteam forum, seems it's a speeding offence.

Its on Sky News and the Liverpool Echo and they named who it is.

Unless is another case going around

Yeah fair enough, didn't know if it was embargoed or hush hush.

Calvert Lewin was named on the Chester court hearings list aswell.

Hope they don't go down.

Much rather either Leeds or Burnley go. Everton shouldn't be in the Champo.

They should if they’re shit enough to be there. Which, currently, they are.

You do feel that they're ripe to pick up a couple of wins from no where. They do have some good attacking players that should be able to make something click at some point.

Defence is pure championship trash though. Coleman, Holgate and Keane are just awful. They're massively missing Yerry Mina.

Why did it even end up in court anyway?

Apparently he was 8 miles over the speed limit, what was not clarified was what the speed limit was but 8 miles even at 30mph is hardly court-worthy, why didn’t he just pay the fine and be done with it….going to court resulted in it becoming public and costing him far more (£900 fine)!

Think there’s more to it.

from what I can gather, he initially denied he was driving the vehicle and also failed to notify the police who had his vehicle at the time, which is a requirement if you are contesting the allegation.

Why did the police have his car and if they had it when the fine was incurred he couldn’t have been the driver could he?!
