Anyway team announced. Wood, woakes and moeen all in for Pope. Anderson and Tongue. Looks a better balanced attack and a bit more depth to the batting

Could be the end of Anderson. Age and injuries finally catching up with him

You're struggling with it.  I'll go for the break down:

Australia didn't cheat at Lords
Some of the Australian squad currently partaking in the Ashes are known cheats.

Exactly. Be it a pocket of dirt in Atherton's pocket; rubbing the saliva from a bowler who'd been sucking on a boiled sweet on the ball; bowlers getting extra shine on a ball from rubbing it on the thigh of the trouser that had been heavily sprayed with deodorant just before they came on to the pitch; digging fingernails into the ball to scratch up more roughness; sandpaper....and so on...I've played in teams who've done all that and more.

It happens, by both sides.

So you think roughing up the one side of the ball with sandpaper is OK?

If you're asking me, then no I don't think it is right but it goes on. Dark arts, call it what you will but there it is....a step up from sledging in my book.

No way. He'll be back for old Trafford, was only ever going to play 3.

Hes still class, has bowled well but not got wickets and the Edgbaston pitch didn't suit him.

Also came in off an injury. To easy to declare him past it all of a sudden.

I dint think you can put sand paper in the same camp as dark arts. That is cheating, you are taking an implement onto the pitch. It's a bit different to roughing up the ball with finger nails and saliva

Yes but he's 41 this month and if  woakss, Wood and Robinson bowl England to victory at Headingly then you can't just bring him back for Old Trafford because of his great past record.

Anderson would come in for either Broad or Robinson in that scenario I think. They'll have both had three tests in a row. Probably Robinson tbh

I think Tongue is a bit unfortunate to miss out with Robinson continuing. I suppose his (Tongue's) injury problems over the last couple of years may have something to do with it.

Glad to see a shorter tail - probably get skittled now!

couple of runs outs as the non receiver walks down the crease , repeated bouncers to the head and loudly appeal every catch and lbw even though we know they aren't even close

give the cheating rocket polishers something to moan about  :)

Win the toss and bowl. Come on England let's get at them and set the tone of the test. The ashes needs an engkand win or last two tests dead.

Three times now we've won the toss.

Let's hope they get this one right.

Uphill battle now being 2 down though

Yes very slow for an opener.

Great start though, missed the wicket though :(

To me Robinson is a first or second change bowler and Woakes a new ball bowler
