The worry for England is that Roy has torn a hamstring, Root looked to be in real trouble with his back yesterday in the second half of his innings and while fielding, Buttler is recovering from a hip injury, and Morgan has back problems - although you wouldn't have guessed it yesterday.

Hopefully we can nurse them all through the tournament, but we have nothing in reserve. At least with Hales you knew he'd come in and we'd be no weaker for it - Vince comes in and the team suddenly has a weak point.

Morgan's record-breaking knock was a real pleasure, easily the innings of the tournament so far. Moeen's little cameo at the end was delightful too.

Sri Lanka next, if there any niggles, another good game for squad rotation. And yes nice to see Mo slog a few at the end there, a good little boost for him. Twas only Afghanistan and our fielding still needs to be better but great to see all the regular batters make hay. 17 6s for Morgan was ridiculous

Damp outfield in Worcester.

I assume the water comes up through the ground as the car park on the right is dry and the river doesn't look as though it has burst its banks?

It has. I've not been in there but the racecourse is half flooded and there are other pictures showing it from the other angle with flooding further down from the County Ground.

Actually, someone's posted a video of the floods:

I wonder if there's a point we will cut our losses with Moeen.  Probably not in the middle of the World Cup but jeez he stinks the place out with the bat these days.

He's not in as a specialist batsman though... its the top 6's job to hit the runs.

Not really, they can't be picking him for his bowling with an average of 48.  He needs to take more responsibility than he has.  He just about got away with the six the ball before so he tries to go down the ground with two fielders on the boundary.  Absolute idiot.

Yeah that dismissal was the epitome of brainless cricket and arguably screwed our chances, put the lower order in under too much pressure. Come the knock outs if he hasn't improved he's too unreliable to trust right now

Stupid dismissal granted, but he scored more than 3 of the top 6 batters and was the most economical bowler (who completed their full allocation)

Whole team needed to play better today

Given that I don't rate Ali that much (just a personal opinion) is he a genuine all rounder or a batsman that bowls a bit or a bowler that bats a bit ? I wouldn't have picked him to start with but equally I can't understand why the Aussies keep picking Zampa'; it would be Lyon for me every time. If they do drop Ali , will Plunkett come in ? Anyway - sod England  - great win for Warks !!!!

Ok but on an increasingly difficult pitch and with him being so out of form With the bat maybe he feit that was his best option.

snyway with New Zealand, India and Australia to come it’s going to be tough to reach the semis now. We should not loose to Sri Lanka and Pakistan

Started off as as batsman that bowied a bit but Steve perryman spotted he had a great action for a spinner and having got close to 200 test wickets he hasn’t done badly for a part time spinner. Actually only a few English spinners have taken more wickets and he has 5 test hundreds with it. Just out of form with the bat that’s all

Yes he is a great player generally, he's just poor at the moment.

I think we'll stuff the Aussies to be honest and win one of India or New Zealand too. This side plays well against the big teams.
