StefanAVFC
Quote French police say 'anal rape' of suspect with officer's truncheon was an accident Police in France have claimed that an officer anally raped a 22-year-old black man with a truncheon by mistake. In an initial investigation, they found “insufficient evidence” to support the man's claim that he was deliberately sodomised. A lawyer for one of the officer's suggested his expandable baton slipped into the man's anus by accident. The findings of the internal police inquiry were announced as violent protests continued for a sixth night in Paris' northern suburbs, over the incident involving a man identified only as Théo. The youth worker suffered such severe injuries to his rectum during an arrest last week in Aulnay-sous-Bois, north of Paris, that he needed major emergency surgery and remains in hospital. The case drew attention to alleged police brutality in France, where officers are regularly accused of using excessive force in poorer neighbourhoods, particularly against young black men. President Francois Hollande visited Théo, who had no police record prior to the incident and was stopped last week for an identity check, in hospital on Tuesday, in a bid to calm tensions on housing estates and deflect criticism that the government has not taken allegations of police brutality seriously. With Mr Hollande beside his hospital bed, Théo made a televised appeal for his neighbourhood to stay calm and “stay united”. He said he did not want a war on the estate and that he trusted the justice system. But the finding of the inquiry may now spark more protests. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/french-police-anal-rape-suspect-truncheon-paris-officer-accident-sodomised-expandable-baton-theo-a7572581.html
BOF Posted February 10, 2017 Author Moderator Share Posted February 10, 2017 The police deserve everything they get during the protests if they don't come down hard on that officer (which they won't). It insults everyone's intelligence to go with a defence like that and it only vindicates the original claim of excessive force.
VILLAMARV
Quote The mass stranding of whales on a remote beach in New Zealand has taken a turn for the worse as 240 more arrived. Earlier on Saturday, volunteers had refloated some 100 of the more than 400 pilot whales which beached on Thursday. But a human chain, with volunteers wading neck-deep into the water, failed to prevent a fresh pod making landfall. The whale stranding, at Farewell Spit at the top of South Island, is one of the worst ever in New Zealand. Dozens of volunteers turned out to help. More than 300 of the 400 original arrivals died while medics and members of the public tried to keep survivors alive by cooling them with water. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-38942763

snowychap
Beeb: Quote A village bus shelter is being secretly decorated and furnished by an unknown person, sparking intrigue in the community. The shelter in the village of Walkhampton, Devon first had a comfortable chair installed last year. Since then there have been regular additions including pictures, plants and solar-powered lights. The identity of the reclusive renovator is unknown, prompting some to liken it to the work of graffiti artist Banksy. Read more about the mystery bus shelter makeover and other Devon and Cornwall stories The rector of the West Dartmoor Mission Community and village resident, the Reverend Nick Shutt, said: "Walkhampton's own Banksy is on the loose. "It's a great thing and has brought a real sense of cheer to the community." The changes started last summer when the shelter was transformed overnight with a new comfortable chair and cushions, and it has been added to over the months. Mr Shutt said: "For Halloween it was 'spookified', and for Valentine's it was 'loved-up'. "We genuinely have no idea who is doing this but it just makes it better than it was." The bus shelter was vandalised in 2013 and had to be repaired by Burrator Parish Council.

BOF Posted July 11, 2017 Author Moderator Share Posted July 11, 2017 Radio station hijacked by pirate who keeps playing song about wanking Quote Radio station hijacked by pirate who keeps playing song about wanking "Children have started humming the song in the car." A local radio station has been besieged by a pirate who repeatedly keeps hijacking the airwaves to play a song about a masturbation. The Winker’s Song, an explicit 1970’s tune by Ivor Biggun, has been illegally broadcast on Nottinghamshire station Mansfield 103.2 on eight separate occasions over the last month. Now, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has launched an investigation to identify the culprit – who is believed to be using a small transmitter to override the station on the same frequency. The song, which features the word ‘rocket polisher’ 36 times, was most recently played during a live family broadcast at Mansfield’s Party In the Market last weekend. Tony Delahunty, the managing director of Mansfield 103.2, told BBC Radio 4: “Some people have told me that their children have started humming the song in the car. We have had calls from people who have found it hilarious, while some have raised their concerns, including our competitors, and a lot of people in the industry are aghast at how hard it is to stop these people.” He added: “We are told by Ofcom who are investigating the matter, that you only need, and this is the frightening thing, a small transmitter and if you can get near where there is an outside broadcast or a signal and you can overpower that signal [and] you’re on the airwaves.” Ofcom are yet to track down the mysterious pirate, but have warned that malicious radio interference is a criminal offence that carries a potential sentence of two years imprisonment and an unlimited fine.

snowychap
Holy smoke, Batman! Quote A woman was shot in the vagina and left with "life changing injuries" in a sex game gone wrong, a court has heard. The 46-year-old had been engaged in sexual activity with David Andrew Jeffers, 47, at a Stockport hotel in January when she was shot. Jeffers admitted possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and was jailed for 10 years. The two had been engaged in a "sex fantasy" when the weapon fired, the Crown Prosecution Service said. Greater Manchester Police branded the scene "shocking" and "horrifying". Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard the shooting happened at the Britannia Hotel in Dialstone Lane in the early hours of 31 January. When officers arrived at the scene they found the victim in a pool of blood and suffering from serious abdominal injuries. She was taken to hospital and required extensive surgery, police said. 'Badly bleeding' The woman, who was too unwell to be fully interviewed at the time, told officers from her hospital bed that Jeffers was a "bad man". Police said Jeffers, of Berkley Terrace, Leeds, claimed to have found the gun in a pub toilet in Leeds. He said he took the gun to Manchester to dispose of it. Jeffers was spotted on CCTV leaving the hotel and going to Piccadilly Station to catch a train back to Leeds. Armed officers raided a property on Amberton Grove, Leeds, two days later and arrested Jeffers. A search of the house found a partially scrawled note denying knowledge of the shooting, the court heard. Det Insp Roger Edwards said: "This was a horrifying incident that has left a woman with life changing injuries that will affect her for the rest of her life." He said the crime was "one of the most shocking" he had encountered, adding: "Jeffers left the victim badly bleeding in a hotel room, showing no regard for her life. "I know that this has been a traumatic time for this woman, having to relive the horror of that day." Edited August 5, 2017 by snowychap
