Match Thread: Arsenal v Villa

Frankly a lot better than expected. Carlos and Martinez doing v well defensively. They have had plenty of chances though, and should have taken at least one, been quite wasteful really. They might start to get more frustrated if it stays like this much longer into 2nd.

Odegaard is their key, smart player, we need to stop him finding space.

Would prob go Bailey for Rogers soon with Rogers on yellow and tends to tire. We were unlucky with the Watkins one, but otherwise not really making the ball stick up top enough when we do get it out.

We do. But  Bailey should be on for Diaby.

Not the Bailey we’ve seen the last couple of games. He needs a rest.

Score should probably be 1-1 but 0-0 is arguably better.

All in all an excellent first half under the circumstances.

Not according to the Sky pundits. It's an utter Arsenal wankfest at half time 🙄

When he's given time with the ball, like most creative players.

Yeah, he uses his body so well to create space for himself even under pressure.

Not a bad half tbf. Rodgers, Zaniolo and Carlos have looked very good. Emi immense. A few of the others need to liven up but all things considered pretty good.

It's sort of been as expected with Arsenal having all of the ball but they haven't done LOADS with it... despite looking dangerous.

We've got counter attacks fairly well, just made some poor decisions or been unlucky (post).

Good game so far.

Are the commentators reluctant to praise us? Or am I very sensitive?

Not just you. It’s the narrative. The neutral is interested in who will win the league (not us) so that’s the focus.

They've been the "better side" by some distance.  But that's expected.

They haven’t been bad to be fair. Praised Arsenals football, particularly Odegaard which is fair but reasonably complimentary about our resilience.

Very sensitive.

In this game, so far, I've heard that we've defended very well, we're doing well as Arsenal look very sharp, Martinez is World Class and Diego Carlos is having an "immense" game.
